One of my favourite statues in Sydney. I always say hello to Trim every time I go to or walk by the State Library.

Statue of Captain Matthew Flinders who was the first to navigate around Australia and prove that it was indeed a continent. Flinders' remains have recently been discovered in an archaeological dig in Euston, London, UK. Flinders is credited with giving Australia its name. Behind the statue, you will see a smaller statue of his cat Trim, who accompanied Flinders on his circumnavigation of Australia. Flinders died aged 40 and his cat was eaten by starving slaves in Mauritius. His London grave was lost when Euston Station was expanded, but in a graveyard of 40,000 his body was rediscovered a few days prior to Australia day 2019 and in the same week that the caretaker Australian Prime Minister Scott 'SCOMO' Morrison erroneously stated that Captain James Cook was the first person to circumnavigate Australia. How good is that?

Nulla di che
Non conoscevo il personaggio della statua, ma fortunatamente le statue servono a questo, a far conoscere o far ricordare i personaggi storici.
