Extremely rude. Cannot believe that a business so rude can still exist. I've only just moved to the area and my mum was visiting me. She had broken her glasses and was in need of urgent repair. The man (who I assume was the business owner) was rude and said that he didn't have any time to look at it and that repairs would incur a minimum charge. I understand that everything has a cost which is fine. It was the tone and abruptness of the conversation that really upset my mum (in her mid 70s). We went across the road where I was told that mum's glasses only needed a screw and it could be done on the spot. Manners go a long way.

We have been going to Unique Optical Optometrist since they were in their older premises in Manuka. The things we love about the team at Unique Optical are:- *. their attention to detail when they examine our eyes * their reminders when check ups are due * their overall attention to detail when it comes to my eye health such as reminders that Glaucoma checks are due, or picking up that I had other eye issues that I was not aware of, linking it with a possible problem with my arteries and suggestions on how best to look after myself, and keeping records of all that between visits. * a great range of good quality frames to choose from * very patient and wonderful help in choosing suitable frames for a difficult to manage face shape (thanks Donna!) * they also help with getting prescription ski goggles!! * easy parking underneath at Manuka Coles, always better than struggling with parking in town. For many months I've had headaches and I would of never thought it was caused by eye strain. The optometrists there are amazing and very thorough with the examination. I felt very comfortable and in good hands. The team at Unique Optical are amazing and helped my pick my very first pair of glasses which I've been receiving complements on everyday! Ive recommended this practice to all of my family and friends!
I’ve been seeing opticians, optometrists and ophthalmologists in Australia and overseas for many years now but have been most impressed with Unique Optical. For over two years, I’ve had a consistent high standard of service. Unique Optical staff have been professional and courteous at all times and have been meticulous in optometrist consultations and prescription spectacles. Frames and lenses are of good quality and are competitively priced. I have no hesitation in recommending this Canberra business.
Could not recommend Unique Optical higher! I recently discovered this amazing practice after a friend's recommendation, after I had conversed about not receiving a correct update of my eye health and prescription at OPSM, Woden some time ago. A very, very big thank you to Susan - whom I felt deliberately took the time, and energy to ensure I was properly seen to and examined. I was incredibly impressed for her eye to detail, as she mentioned my mild astigmatism almost straight off the bat - despite having not seen me before! I thoroughly appreciated Susan's professionalism and thoroughness - I can honestly say I never received that level of detail and genuine care at OPSM. I will gladly return to Unique Optical for follow up eye examinations. I would also like to note I have purchased frames for my prescription glasses from their practice, and will happily continue to do so in future. Thank you, Susan!
I took in two pairs of glasses to be adjusted. To be fair, neither of them were purchased at Unique Optical, but optometry is a required service, and I don't get a choice as to when my glasses require adjusting. One pair, they would not adjust, arguing that because they had not been sold there, they did not want the liability. The second pair (sunglasses) were adjusted, but the optometrist did not check them against my face, and so they remain too big. As far as optometry is concerned, it should be a service primarily, and a business second. I didn't feel as though that was the case here; I wouldn't trust the duty of care were I to book in for an optometrist appointment and I certainly didn't feel any incentive to look at the frames that they were selling - I shouldn't have to spend hundreds of dollars to feel valid. It's a pity, as if I had received good service in this instance, I would have both booked in and recommended to my family (all of whom wear glasses daily). Better luck next time...
Friendly and professional optometrist. Beautiful range of designer frames to choose from. It's actually hard to pick just one.
