I booked about a month in advance and was so excited the entire time leading up to the lesson, to then be utterly disappointed. I left feeling so upset because it was not the experience I had in mind. Majority of the lesson was saddling and cleaning, I understand this is part of the experience but it took up almost all the time I had. The instructor made inappropriate remarks toward me that were very judgemental and rude. She shamed me based off personal assumptions she had made about me and we had only just met. I felt I was constantly dedending myself and trying to prove that I was not some 'blonde hair bimbo' (which is what I gather she took me as). During the time I was unsaddling the horse, she walked away and began another lesson, leaving me confused about what to do next and whether it is okay for me to leave. There was no customer service whatsoever and the lesson was inadequate. Safe to say, since this I have found another riding school where I feel appreciated and content. I do not recommend this equestrian club to anyone wanting to learn. Better to spend the extra elsewhere and get what you pay for :-)

My horse riding lessons here are so fun and the highlights of my week. The teachers are so good with teaching you how to maintain your horse as well as ride plus riding, and the horses are so sweet and well trained.

Donna, was incredibly rude to general public. Kicked me off a shared off lead dog beach because her horses might kick the dogs. The general public cannot use the beach as intended when she’s bringing horses. If you have a farm, a business and you live near malabar beach - then work with the council and get an area specific for your business and horses. Don’t attack the general public for doing what they’re entitled to. Donna was incredibly rude dismissive and just plain entitled. When I highlighted she’s teaching the children behaviour that’s teaching exclusion and that bullying others she’s ok. She walked off. I then tried to relate on a human level by sharing the fact I’m on the beach because I’m struggling with suicidality and being jobless over Christmas. Could she just try and make her language nicer. She ignored it and walked off. Told me to complain to to council if I have a problem. Definitely would recommend many other equestrian clubs just for their people skills and empathy. Don’t invest money into a business that has no respect for others. This was the second interaction this year with Donna who was incredibly rude the first time too. Incredibly disappointed here. What kind of businesses have adults who are ok to bully others just because they feel justified to, on top of that - Donna seems to take no accountability for the influence she would have on the children. Definitely would not send any of our family there. If they can’t respect the general public and are happy to attack others for trying to get a general understanding of dog and horse interaction. Then its a big fat no to handing my money over to support that negative behaviour.

I appreciate that it's not just about 'learning how to ride' it's about working on the ground with the horse and understanding a horse's behaviour too. Riding is the 'icing on the cake'. Each horse teaches you something different at South East Equestrian and it's such a nice environment to be in. Carissa ensures that you are safe, having fun and builds your confidence. You'll end up doing things you never thought you could do! My niece had her 1st lesson last week and she's hooked! It was great she got a full experience from catching the pony, grooming, tacking up to mucking out at the end of the lesson. I really enjoy being part of the South East Equestrian Club!
