Loy Yang was quiet cool and unpretentious. If you want luxury or modern fittings go somewhere else. This is 1960/70s accommodation. The ceiling fans were roaring and the doors unlocked when I got there. The agent came around and showed me the local tracks shop, fuel pumps and eating establishments. It was convenient to the fish restaurant, RSL, pub and theatre restaurant. The bus stopped nearby but be warned it sometimes travelled a different route. Ask where to be dropped off. The bowling greens are nearby as is the calm waters of Arcadia Bay and the tracks into other bays are up Church Street where the Anglican church house is situated. The pool is deep but small and ideal for cooling off. I stayed here for 42 days at A50/day. That was a discount rate for so long a time.
