Amazing customer service by Julio and the other staff. Arranged the car for me that I wanted and the renting process was very simple. Bond returned in time, no fuss. Also, found it to be the best value rental on the Coast.
Overall - very average at best. While the people I dealt with were friendly, there is a lot that could be improved. Booked a car for 11am pickup on a Sunday. The guy called me a bit earlier saying he may not be back from a quick trip to Newcastle in time but should be ok for 11am. I turn up in heavy rain at 11am - nobody to be seen. Finally at 11.30 he came in. Later when I loaded the car I discovered a small damage on the rear bumper, but they didn't mark that on the damage report. I guess I should have checked better at the pickup, however cause it was bucketing down I guess I missed that one. I informed them about the damage next day, and credits to them they didn't have an issue with it. Nevertheless, they should inspect the car better themselves as that's an obvious damage that should have been on the report in the first place. The car was not very clean and had an unpleasant smell too. Also discovered that the car had no tinted windows either - which is crazy in a country like Australia. Like how can a car even exist without a tint??? It was extremely hot and bright in the car as soon as the sun came out a bit. Also it was not even the car I ordered. I found out later they only have about 5-6 cars available in this location, and while you can order other cars on their website, many of those are actually not available. So why then can you order them in the first place if they are not available anyway? Overall, I would not go back there. Very mediocre on many levels compared to other car rental places I have been to over the years.
Very helpful staff, even drove to the train station to pick us up with our bags. Clear explanation of policy, no hidden extras that I could find. Fair assessment of vehicle, didn't attempt to rip us off charging for car damage (we did waive full exess however). Can't fault.
Hopeless no one has answered the phone for 3 hrs I was supposed to pick up a car today and no one was there and no one to get in contact with. Absolutely horrible service.
A more dishonest car rental company you can not meet. We originally ordered a stand alone sat nav device when we booked our car as we weren't sure if one was built into the car. It was a premium car so as it turned out there was. The lady who we picked the car up from handed us the device but then took it back from us when we inspected the vehicle saying we don't need it as the car had one and would take it off our invoice and we wouldn't be charged. We were charged 117 euros for it and they refuse to refund us as they are now saying they would've taken the chip out of our car if we didn't want the sat nav. As cars with built in equipment we know that this simply isn't possible. We hired an expensive premium car at a cost of 1160 euros (1910 aud) for an 8 day hire. The stand alone sat nav device was an additional 117 euros (192 AUD) - it was taken back from us with a promise of a refund at Europcar's suggestion not ours. I sort assistance at Fair Trading who agreed we shouldn't be charged as it was an extra we didn't receive. They had no luck convincing Europcar to refund us as they can't charge someone for something they did not receive and more importantly they should honour their word. Our only line of recourse now is to take them to the tribunal but for 200 its not worth our time, so unrightfully they get to keep our money. We will NEVER hire from Europcar again. Shame on you!!
