At this most difficult time, Academy Funerals were most accommodating and caring in their approach and care for our loved one. I commend Ashley, Robin and the team to anyone looking for a caring and supportive funeral director who preempted our needs and provided gentle and appropriate guidance to us. They managed to deal with an 60 motorcycle escort to the chapel/cemetery and dealt with the day with decorum and care. Academy Funerals is a family business which is locally owned and operated. This is one of the reasons we utilised them. Now that we have experienced their care and service, we would look no further. Thanks so much team. You certainly made a most difficult time much easier to handle.

This is Margaret Jones Ashley was brilliant, my family was shocked by my brother passing and was not prepared financially, I myself wanted to give my brother a lovely send off and not a cold hearted way the government covered. Cheap cremations. After speaking to Ashley we decided to have a family service at the funeral home. OMG. It was wonderful, so personal and loving, and using Ashley as our celebrant, his words were just what we wanted to hear. Please go no where else, this place has real feelings for you, and they look after your needs at a price that suits your budget. If I could give more stars I would.️

Robin made what was a difficult time, run smoothly and put our minds at ease. He has so much compassionate and goes above and beyond to make sure it is a positive experience with a personal touch. Everyone commented on what a wonderful service was provided.
NOT Polynesian Today I will finally get my father back from the Coroner’s, 1 week after his Sudden Unexpected Death. Ashley advised us Not to “Pester” the Coroner’s as this could jeopardise Dads return. He advised we just wait. 6days on NO word from the Coroner’s, I contacted an alternative actually Polynesian Funeral director and was informed that the Coroner’s assign a Counsellor specifically to us, for contact at anytime. Deeply hurting from the significant delay caused by Ashley’s misinformation we opted to change Funeral directors. We had Already paid the Full Amount and then asked to be Reimbursed. Ashley wrote a cheque to the Estate of the Deceased, knowing this would not be able to be paid for weeks or may be even months. The Emotional and Financial stress we are Already Under has been amplified. Our Experience with Academy Polynesian Funerals has been very much one of Cultural Misappropriation. Token trinkets and empty symbols of Polynesia. And most worryingly Racist, we feel we have been treated like we are ignorant and uneducated. 24hours since lodging a Formal Complaint, we are yet to be Reimbursed. Ashley has said unless I remove my Review, he will not Reimburse us. In an act that can only be described as White Fragility, he has said I have been “aggressive and salacious”, in asking our monies are returned immediately.
I would recommend Academy Funerals to all. They are Australian family owned and Robin was kind, respectful and considerate to our family at a most difficult time. I loved the fact that this company allow for personalised features at every section of the ceremony. We used a family member as celebrant for my dear Dad’s funeral and Robin did everything to facilitate a smooth running of the ceremony. When you lose a loved one, it’s difficult and heartbreaking. Academy funerals ensured this most difficult of days went smoothly. Thank you most sincerely from my whole family.
