Outstanding pies (and other items like sausage rolls etc); great selection and ladies at the counter are so nice. We had Moroccan Goat pie which apparently won lots of awards last year and it was delicious, the filling tasted like it just came out of a tangine! The other we had was the salmon and soft blue cheese which recently was awarded best seafood pie at a national competition; again delicious. Kids had mini pies and mini sausage rolls a doughnut. They have sweet pastries too and coffee. We have travelling around Australia for the past 18 months and seriously these would be the best pies we have encountered to date; we have covered many outback towns too which generally put city bakeries to shame!
A lovely surprise to find in an unexpected part of Townsville and delicious pies. It's always great when the owner/chef is right there to tell you how he slow cooked the peppercorns for the steak and peppercorn pie. I had a salmon and blue cheese pie. This was delicious highly recommend!

I waited outside this place until it opened this morning and I was happy to do so because there is nowhere better in town where you can get a pie like these guys make. A true masterpiece.

This little shop is a hidden gem In Townsville - tucked away in a small group of shops on Kern Brothers Drive, they are well worth the visit. Their Steak Dianne pie was a monster hit with my husband, as was the Pepper Pie he had also. I’m not all that adventurous and settled for the plain pie with peas which did not disappoint. Their coffee is lovely and they also sell some pastries which could not resist and opted for a couple of old fashioned vanilla slices. The service is so friendly and the prices are so reasonable. We were on our way back to Brisbane and the lovely owners gave us a lovely little bag of cookies - one each for the three of us - this really did too off a lovely visit to Townsville. Chunky Pies are well worth a visit.
Just had my first Chunky Pie. The Steak Dianne one Have never had such a delicious pie, genuine steak so full its a wonder is stayed within the pastry, and the flavour was amazing. Went over the top and had a caramel tart that was awesome, so full caramel it just about oozed out. Definitely my choice from now on.
