We visited this place on 11April for lunch, the lady who served us was rude. There was two of us and among other things we ordered a kettle of tea and asked for a second cup so we could share but was refused as the tea was for a single person and we would have to pay for another if we wanted to share. In all honesty the food was good, however the customer service was horrible and therefore spoilt the experience.

Reputation speaks for itself. A quality Asian venue providing quality cuisine. Prices are about what you would expect for this location but not over the top. You won't be disappointed.

02/01/21 Tonight was my cousins SURPRISE birthday dinner. We made a booking for 25p weeks in advance, to make sure that everything runs smoothly. Couple of family members & myself arrived @6:30pm but we had a booking for 7:30pm instead. The owner (women) approached us & said that we were too early but she explained to me where we were all going to sit. The owner spoke to me and said that she’s waiting for the other customers to finish so she can start prepping the tables. Soon everyone started to arrive, to be seated at 7:30. Come 7:50 we were all still standing waiting for our tables that we booked weeks before the event. The women started to blame us that we won’t have a enough seats & advised us to go tell the other customers to leave. She caused a scene and started calling us names because she messed up our booking. She then went over to my relatives and said “can I speak to someone with commonsense”. Her husband then comes over & gives us crackers and stated “this is to cool you all down”. It was disgusting to see and hear. I have never experienced such poor manners at a restaurant. WORD OF ADVISE, don’t be money hungry and look after your customers. Learn some manners & patients before working in this industry.

Sammy’s was a favourite with myself and my daughters since it opened. Great food and service. We went last night, sat down, ordered our usual two dishes and rice, a glass of wine etc. We were then informed we had not ordered enough as in December 2020 they introduced a 30 dollar per head minimum charge. The waiter who we had known for some time literally stood there with his calculator tallying up how much we were ordering so as to get to the magic 30 dollar per head limit. He informed us that there was a new sign on the door saying so. We left, told them politely that their new policy was greedy and informed them we were not returning due to this new policy. A warning, read the tiny sign near the entrance re the 30 per head policy. Literally not worth it anymore. A shame.

The waitress was really unprofessional unfortunately. Food was tasty though! The sago dessert was very runny though rather than the pudding consistency you'd usually expect from a sago dessert.

We stayed the weekend in Kingston and ate here 3 times. The meals were superbly cooked, excellent portions, excellent price. We couldn't have been happier. Our waitress was very sweet and gracious and provided excellent service. They found space for us even when the place was full and booked out. I have never had the tea served so fast. We eat out a lot and it is easy to be disappointed but Sammy's was just perfect. Thank you for making our weekend so pleasurable, we are still talking about how well the food was cooked and how it digested so well without any heaviness. Your chefs know quality. Thank you.

Never had a bad experience - still one of the best Chinese restaurants in Canberra.
