An awesome place to watch a film or see a band or play. Both the Slim & I movie and the Christian Power & Lonesome Train gig were brilliant in these trying times. Well done to everyone involved.
First Class Community Theatre. There are reviews posted here that should be taken with a grain of salt. This venue is a community funded resource auspiced by the Coffs Harbour City Council. This theatre should NOT TO BE CONFUSED with capital city state funded and/or commercial venues. Yet, it is successfully run by an energetic & talented committee of volunteers with two salaried support staff. Of course it doesn't run as a 24/7 commercial operation with elaborate and expensive online booking systems, Facebook & Twitter feeds, smartphone apps, mass market market advertising on TV, radio & print. Judge the theatre for what it actually is... a valuable COMMUNITY resource for the benefit of both local residents and visitors. Coffs Harbour is a REGIONAL town and while it may not attract West End and Broadway shows, the Royal Ballet or a large symphony orchestra it does attract high quality productions commensurate with this type of venue. Fairs fair please.
As both a theatre goer, performer and AV tech, I can whole heartedly say that the Jetty Memorial Theatre is my favourite place to see or do shows in the whole of the Coffs Harbour region. It has a seating capacity bigger than any local cinema, quality fixtures and equipment, and the whole place is kept in the most commendable of clean conditions. A fully licenced and stocked bar is included at all openings, and guests can enjoy a fresh sea breeze and view of the harbour from the patio adjacent to the bar. The staff are local, and some of the most friendly you will find anywhere around. Productions come from all around even as far as Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane, and even a few international shows have graced the stage. The theatre is even equipped for screening as a cinema, and the theatre hosts the annual film festival SWIFF. As such, you can find with a wide variety of style, genre and taste. I would highly recommend keeping an eye or ear out for shows and productions, as they are not to be missed.
The Coffs Jetty Memorial Theatre is where magic happens. It's where I started my journey as a playwright. My children's drama group won many awards at the Spring on Stage Theatre Festival. The Jetty Theatre has created many happy memories for me.
Lovely old world charm in this cinema. Operators clearly take pride in how it presents, how it is run, and choice of screenings. Well done to all involved. Look forward to any opportunity to go there.
