For the amount we paid (two bedroom unit) it was alright, however disappointed. We did not get the style of room/unit we asked for (we had the option when we booked months earlier for a room with veranda or balcony, we requested balcony) we got neither, just a ground floor flat up in the back corner. Parking design out side our room was poorly thought-out when they made it, you can not safely park the amount of cars side by side in the designated parking bays without blocking someone in or risk your car been damaged by someone leaving! There is not enough parking bays across the entire complex for the amount of rooms/guest.. Not to mention money was removed from my selected account days before it was supposed to be paid via direct debit.. Would not recommended..

Very nice but lacking in attention to detail with the cleaning of the room I got. Clean yes, but not really on some areas. Surfaces etc. Studio apartment, good facilities and comfortable. Still recommend.
The ensuite jacuzzi with a king size bed and a separate room for kitchen and living room made our stay very memorable. We will definitely visit again next time!
Very filthy hardy any cleaned...cockroaches everywhere and the room smells always. First they muck up your booking for i ddnt get the the room i booked. Complains to the management with no reply and never have enough towels. Plus they dont clean the rooms.
Have stayed at the Grounds at Callaghan in the past and on our last visit, there were a large number of issues we reported not only by phone, but also on a note for the housekeepers to pass on- while there that were not addressed. Some months later we are still waiting for a response from the "boss-man." The cleaning in these apartments leaves a lot to be desired and maintenance repairs do not appear to be carried out, considering how much you pay a night, let alone the fact that they are still relatively new. We tried booking again. Were quoted one price then once the call ended received a text where they had charged double. When I called back to query it, I was told someone would get back to me... again no response. I followed up with a call, which was answered extremely unprofessionally. The man who answered said he was the one I spoke to, when making the booking, and asked me why on earth would he quote a cheap rate for a whole apartment, to which I replied that I specifically checked that the rate was for two nights to which he said yes. He was not only very blunt and abrupt but very rude. People with shocking customer service skills, like this should be banished to doing jobs where they do not deal with the public at all. He needs a serious course on hospitality, public relations and how to speak to customers who essentially are the ones that keep him employed. Very poor reflection on these managing agents considering how tough the climate is in this COVID crisis.
Efficient and friendly reception. Excellent room that was very clean and exactly what we paid for and expected. I have been a accommodation manager and if I was being extremely picky the room could do with a deep clean for some minor issues but it must be hard in this covid era for staffing levels. Fantastic that it was fur child friendly! Thanks
I booked two nights only stayed one (despite paying in full) i arrived pretty late at night driving up from Sydney. I was greeted in the room by a few cockroaches, the room smelt like chlorine/bleach and i couldnt open any windows (there werent any) and i couldnt open a door because the smoking zone was at my front door. If it wasnt so late at night id have just left instantly. The bathroom felt like a prison the sink was metal and everytime you flush the toilet you hear it through the shower drain. The bed was way too big for the space when i got out my side i fell into the bathroom doors lip half asleep that hurt like hell. My partner was so close to the wall on his side of the bed that getting up he had to be careful not to slam into the wall. All the floors are tiled so its cold in the room, not welcoming or homey at all. When i went to check out the next day the young guy wasnt phased that i was checking out early but there was an older man who questioned me about it and was more concerned about where i found to move to than all of the issues i have listed. They did not offer to make me more comfortable in another room and they have not replied to my email complaint and its been a week since i emailed.
I arrive to be told that they had no booking; I had made an online booking. The pratty little sow at the front desk treated my son and I like we were asking for charity. I pointed this out to her and she snootily taughted, "our prices are very reasonable FOR A RESORT IN A MAJOR TOURIST DESTINATION!" I nearly choked trying not to laugh; I should've just laughed in the ignorant sow's face. I pointed out, 'this is Newcastle, a mining town. It's not Cairns or the Gold Coast!" The perocial sow didn't seem to recognise either of these names. She pretend to look at the computer and snorted, "all we don't have anything available anyway." I said, 'yes and one of those bookings was mine, but thank you for letting me out so easily! I wouldn't stay here now if you paid me.' She thought she was so clever when she snorted, "Your deposit is non refundable." I asked, 'I though you said you couldn't find my booking?' She said, "I'll look again, maybe I missed it." I told her, 'we all know that you didn't! But what you did miss was the fact that I'd opted to pay upon arrival. You get NOTHING!" Then my son and I left and stayed in a lovely cabin on Lake Macquarie just south of Belmont.
