I always enjoy shopping here. The owner is knowledgeable, and the selection of fabrics is excellent, especially for a small shop. For example, I've purchased silk organza for a pressing cloth, Lithuanian linen, cotton voile and wool coating. Although it is in a rather ugly shop development away from the centre of Bendigo, don't let that put you off. The atmosphere in the shop is very pleasant and the fabrics are displayed well, with some sample garments to give you ideas. There are Bernina sewing machines, sewing notions, indie and retro patterns, and a small but good selection of knitting/crochet supplies too. From the centre of Bendigo, you can get a bus, but a taxi wouldn't cost much if you are in town by train for an exhibition at the gallery. If you attend the Australian Sheep & Wool Show in Bendigo, House of Cloth usually has a stall, so that's another opportunity. And there is an online shop and you can always phone or email and ask for suggestions too.

I had a great experience placing an online order from House of Cloth. Elizabeth was professional, polite and very helpful during the entire process. I'd been trying to find some out of print double gauze by cotton steel and was not having any luck finding "space thistles" in blue. Luckily House of Cloth had a few meters left in stock and thanks to Elizabeth's help I was able to get something I'd been searching everywhere for. A few notes about international ordering from small independent stores; Getting a shipping quote may take a few days, small businesses typically don't go to the post office every single day. This is reasonable and I feel Elizabeth got a shipping estimate for me in a timely manner. Shipping internationally can be costly, be prepared to pay that cost. There's no reason a small shop owner should have to cover the costs, business wise they most likely wouldn't ship outside the country if that were the case because they'd make more money selling within the country rather than taking a loss on international shipping. Lastly, shipping can take a while depending on where you live, this is normal. All in all I'm very happy with my purchase. I got exactly what I paid for and it arrived clean and neatly packaged. The packaging used was great, very strong and waterproof, the wrapping on the fabric itself was nice too. I appreciate the effort the team at House of Cloth put in for me and I would recommend shopping with them.

We accidentally stumbled upon this gem of a shop when traveling in country Victoria. Great range of fabrics, wools, Bernini sewing machine products and knowledge. Also excellent range of independent patterns and 2nd hand vintage patterns. Shop owner and operator shared a wealth of knowledge ranging from sewing to knitting to sewing machines. So wish House of Cloth was my local fabric shop.

I was visiting Bendigo and decided to check out the shop.I looked up the web site which told me it was open. When I called in to the shop fully expecting to buy some fabric I wax given a very cold reception. After being asked "what do you want" I was told they were closed. Very dissspointing and I won't be making the effort to visit this store again.
