Suffering from neglect. The owner, Andrea, told us "she is not responsible for wildlife or weather' when we contacted her about the state of Hillview Farmhouse on our arrival. While we accept this, she IS responsible for general maintenance and cleanliness and now Covid safety and this was not evident on our recent stay. The photos below will show you what Hillview Farmhouse actually looks like these days - a far cry from the images on the website and certainly not value for 275/night. I believe the sheets and towels to have been freshly laundered, but both doona and pillows smelled of sweat and other people's perfume/aftershave. The bathroom was pretty clean. Suspect stains on the couch, blankets and lounge room rug made us cringe and avoid using them. Despite Andrea telling us 'we'd have the place to ourselves', on our second of two nights, someone turned up to the abandoned looking house less than 10m from the back door of the place we were staying. We were sitting in the garden next to it at the time but noone came and said hello. The only way we knew someone was there was hearing doors closing and lights on?! Created a weird vibe indeed. I will note, Andrea was generous with breakfast provisions. But I'd rather be able to arrive to a pricey holiday destination and just relax in clean and professional hospitality.
