Tram station serving the L2 and L3 lines at Central station. During the mornings and evenings just before and after school it gets extremely packed from SBHS and SGHS students, and i mean *packed*

This light rail stop is located next to Central train station. Services depart here for Sydney’s CBD/Circular Quay and Sydney’s eastern suburbs/Randwick. Services run about every 15 minutes - more frequent during peak travel times. To travel on Sydney’s public transport system you require either a credit card or an Opal Card. Remember to tap on before getting onto the light rail, and tap off once you get off. The tap on/off machines are located at each light rail platform. There’s three platforms located here. Wheelchair signage is in the middle of the platform. There’s some seats and shade here.
I’ve taken a few minutes to reflect on my first couple of light rail trips before posting a review here. I admit that I was cynical of the light rail to begin with. I thought that there were other areas in Sydney with greater public transport needs. However, as testing began, I found myself forgiving the inconvenience caused to those who live or travel along or across the light rail route. I use public transport every day. I’m a supporter of effective mass public transport. I live in Randwick and work in George St. In theory, the light rail should be a convenient transport solution for me. My initial view is that this is way too slow, I could have easily outrun the train. The journey time is two and a half times what was talked about in the initial information sessions in my area. It is significantly slower than the bus. I can’t believe that we have waited three years for a less user friendly solution. Unless the light rail can improve its trip times by at least 100% (which would still mean it takes longer than the bus) this will be remembered as a waste of money only fit for tourists with time to enjoy the view and little kids without responsibilities. I gave it one star for facilitating the removal of other vehicles from George St and 1 star for looking pretty This is not a mass public transport solution.
Little slower than other. Also, There are 3 platforms located here. Wheelchair signage is inside the center of the platform. I think three star is perfect.
At long last the Light Rail has arrived. Unfortunately, it is quite slow going up and down George Street. The section to Randwick is slightly better but not by much, the average speed is around 30 km/h (I saw it on a YouTube video). Overall, the Light Rail provides an alternative to the bus in terms of public transport, but not by much. At least it goes to Moore Park for those Sydney Swans, Roosters, Sydney FC and Sixers fans. I wonder if the slowness has something to do with the NSW Liberals interest in Toll Roads and donated money from Transurban??
Das hat Sydney echt super gemacht mit den Bahnen und mit dem Opal System! So einfach und bequem! Auch als Tourist versteht man sehr schnell wo man und wie hinkommt! Grossartiger Job! Ich liebe das neue System!
