Hackett, Australia

I first noticed the Hackett Oval Labyrinth in early December 2015. At that time I assumed the Labyrinth was newly constructed since there was a pile of white stones off to the side, presumably "left over" from the construction process. Those "extra" stones are now gone. The Hackett Oval Labyrinth is apparently not as well-known as the "Five Senses" Labyrinth which is not far away on the slopes of Mount Ainslie. In some ways I like the Hackett Oval Labyrinth better, since the white stones are more appealing than the tree branches used to construct the "Five Senses" Labyrinth. Over time, the grass has partly grown up around the white stones, giving the Hackett Oval Labyrinth more of a sense of permanency and timelessness which seems well-suited to creating the meditative state required to best appreciate a visit to the Labyrinth. The location, however, is nowhere near as good -- with a busy street corner only a few metres away. If you choose to visit the Hackett Oval Labyrinth, I suggest you come at a time when there is likely to be less traffic -- such as early Sunday morning.
