It took 1 meeting and Berna understood exactly what i wanted and made the changes i wanted to maximise on my plan. I would strongly recommend Akay Architects for people who want to have their home designed for living or selling. I found dealing with Berna very through and her professionalist approach to design of homes to my family needs was superb. We initially got another architect to design our 3 unit development on a corner block. After more than a year we had the approval from the council ready to go, however, we felt that the design was not good enough for our family needs. We could not imagine ourselves living in that house. Then we engaged Berna and she came up with the design that we were dreaming for. Application went smoothly with council, we had our plans approved within 6 months. I still remember the way she represented us in the meeting with council architects which I attended as well. She was proud of her design and confident against the objections that we had. Now we are living and enjoying the home she designed for us and thanking her for that every day. After all she had designed a more specious and logical home for us. She provided an extra room and retreat area in her design comparing the previous ones. We are still working with Berna and Ahmet since then, and appreciate their professionalism. I would recommend her for everyone who are hoping to live in a home with logic and space and have a strong representation with the tough town planning experience. So happy that we took a chance on a postcard advertisement for Akay Architects. From the moment we both met Berna we felt extremely comfortable. Down to earth and easy to speak to, we were able to communicate our vision for our property to her in no time. Very thorough in her preparation for our meeting she was aware of what we could and couldn't do before we met and was then able to guide us towards our more realistic options. Her knowledge of the process, rules & regulations is exceptional - this, together with her honesty was very comforting for us, especially as we were approaching property development for the first time. As a result of this meeting, we had her conduct a comprehensive feasibility study on our property. This report far exceeded our expectations - we were blown away by it thoroughness, ease of understanding and attention to detail. We were able to narrow down our decision making quite easily and when meeting with Berna again, were able to iron out any other queries we had and discuss some other options we thought of within the boundaries of the report. We are still in the early stages of this process but are quite excited by what we have seen so far and confident we have chosen the right person to help us achieve our vision. So glad that postcard landed in our letterbox when it did!
