Going in as a private client for my dogs dental surgery I was very happy to recieve a quote that was considerably less than her regular vet. Her surgery went well and her recovery has gone smoothly, we were sent home with pain relief and antibiotics and have follow up visits at 3 days and 10 days post surgery.

Origin of my life companion Jasper, whom I met as Hugh initially. Great shelter doing awesome things for so many animals and they're owners and families. Vet services that are high quality and also affordable including pension and concession discounts for health care card holders. Highly recommended

I have adopted both of my cats from GAWS and both times the staff have been extremely welcoming, friendly and supportive. The on site vet clinic is also fantastic - beautiful helpful staff on the phones and vets who you can tell really care for the animals they're meeting/treating. After coming here I wouldn't consider taking my animals to any other vet clinic. Also, found some hidden gems in their Op-Shop on Pakington Street and the staff there were just as friendly and welcoming as they are at the shelter.

Both Suki (lala) and Arabella say a heartfelt thank you to Jen and their other carers during their stay at GAWS. While they never want to come back, they will never forget how much you all took care of them

We have adopted our last two cats from GAWS. Both times the experience was really good. The staff were extremely friendly and great in assisting us. Both times our cats chose us. I just wish I could adopt them all. Thanks to the volunteers and staff. We will be back again. Jazz and Lexi are both great friends and living a spoilt and comfortable life with is as indoor cats with a special outdoor area.

I have heard about this place. My dear friend's niece had an awful experience with Gaws leading to an undue family felt depression. Her name is Ashley, a sweet young girl who's always put her hand up to support members in the community, she's held fundraisers, made food donations, helped transport local members to and from church on the weekends. After a traumatic separation leaving them without a thing and a home or a car their father left and was soon after incarcerated. My friends neice and children did the best they could to temporarily home their few suitcases and cats while they tirelessly searched for a new home and they did. However, their cats were removed from the temporary home after the leasing agent came to be aware of their residence there so she had the council escort them to gaws. Gaws promised their safety and return as soon as they secured a property and the day Ashley went to retrieve them she was told over the phone that due to her tardiness they were adopting them out there and then, although she was 15 minutes away. Dr. David who has resigned since refused to allow Ashley to readopt them. She made several visits to gaws, police were called to take her out.. her family tried calling and I drove her in one of the many time she had been. It still brings tears to my eyes, watching my friends niece go through the heart breaking time she did with her children but I'll never forget the still gaze in her eyes since her beloved cats were taken from her, 7 years she had them and to think all 3 are out there somewhere in Victoria. We all will miss and remember you, Teddy, Heffy and Ninja

GAWS is a not for profit animal shelters that cares for thousands of Lost, Stray and Surrendered animals each year. The staff are extremely caring and gentle people and there is a wonderful team of volunteers and foster carers that support the shelter and help maintain the high standard of animal welfare that Geelong and surrounding towns rely on heavily. Please support local shelters when considering volunteering or offering donations.
