The Commission’s powers and functions are set out in the Gasfields Commission Act 2013 and include: • Helping regional communities adapt to the introduction of natural gas development • Providing tools to enable informed decision making • Supporting best practice business to business relationships • Continuing to improve industry practice by all involved • Supporting respectful and balanced relationships in the gas fields • Acting as the first point of contact for anything to do with natural gas in Queensland • Compiling and distributing information about the gas industry • Providing contact details to assist in finding more help if needed The Commission's Board is made up of a chair and three members appointed for their skills and expertise in their respective fields.
