Wonderful campsite. We took the walk inland to the campsite, but it was really bad as it had lots of mosquitos and bees. Take the walk from Jetty to the camp along the beach. Though little tricky to walk on sand, it has amazing view of coastline and very little trouble with bees. Better have good insect repellent. The campsite has a neatly maintained drop toilet and it even has an electric bbq. Untreated rainwater tank is available and should be boiled. Lot of birds and crabs Book the camp in Parks Vic. It's completely free. Take the ferry from Stony point ferry terminal to French island

It was very clean. There is a toilet, water and electric bbq all of them were clean. And peaceful. I rode my bike from the ferry to the campsite and it took 15 min.
Nice enough location. Brand new facilities, eco toilet, water tank filled by the Ranger, picnic tables. The road in is very Sandy so if you bring a bike you will be pushing it at least half of the time. There was also a fair bit of local traffic from cars.
The Fairhaven Campsite has always been a personal favourite of mine, but after the recent upgrades it is hard to name a greater campsite. The location is immaculate and now that the beach can be easily seen from where ever you camp it makes it such a relaxing sight. The BBQ and seating area is very clean and professionally built. the new toilets are clean and pleasant. If I could rate it more stars I would. Can't wait to visit again soon!
Amazing conditions cool beach very clean toilets with tp and hand sanitizer and rainwater tank. Plenty of room and free use BBQs. Lots of benches. (but may run out so bring your own) 1-1.5 hours walk from ferry. 2 hrs from general store. OR 45 by bike from jetty. The road conditions are not too bad so you can ride on a road bike all the way, except just before the site it gets a bit too sandy for slicker tires. On the way there, don’t follow the sign up hill on the right hand side that leads up a sandy track. It says it goes to the campsite but it is not necessary, just follow the main road.
Only free campsite on French Island. Perfect camping experience and nearby beach. Only problem is no store nearby and you have to go at least 7-8km far
Clean drop toilets, bin, plenty of shade and good places to pitch a tent and picnic tables make this a pretty great campsite. Bit of a hike/ ride from tankerton jetty but worth the travel
Tip there is a free shuttle on sat & sun to the Fig cafe (meets most ferries) from there you can rent a bicycle. The island is so worth the visit we seem koalas in trees on the side of the road.
