After moving schools half way through year 8 I found myself at what was once known as McCarthy. Penola has helped shape me into a better person. From changing schools I became more grateful for the things that Penola had that my past school didn't this includes, the great facilities and learning spaces, the technology advancements helping students learning, the supportive nature of the teachers knowing every students name and never walking past without saying hello and lastly the acknowledgment of difference that the teachers had and their ways of learning helping to advocate for every student no matter their disabilities. I am forever grateful for my time at McCarthy/Penola and for the amazing teachers that have not only helped to make me a better person but a much more confident one too.

This is an absolutely awesome learning community and I could not be more proud to be the Principal for the last 3 years. The staff are committed, passionate and incredibly hardworking. Every experience that I have had with McCarthy Catholic College has been a very positive one. I have found it to be a professional and nurturing environment, its teachers providing the platforms and behaviours to ensure that students reach their potential. It has a wide variety of learning pathways including the Trade Training Centre. Students always represent the school well in the community. I am very comfortable with my decision to send my children to this school.
2018 was the best year of teaching and learning in my 31 year career. The students worked with staff in developing a community of respect, trust and openness. The ongoing process of renewal is truly inspiring.
McCarthy or Penola is a really good school I was a student there for 4 years and ended in 2019 but even though the school was strict I rather have a school strict then a school that will not care at all, Penola taught me a lot of things, good things not only in my subjects but they really did teach me how to get ready for the real world The teachers help and care about their students well being The school was always neat and tidy The education was good The teacher made it easy to understand and learn better And always investigated if there was a problem The counsellor was amazing and very easy to talk to and approachable and So were the teachers The IT guys were really helpful and understanding for what was going on with your device and did what ever they could to help The Library has so many books and is so calming and peaceful for Studying and the librarians were so amazing and sweet And they made it clear that you don’t have to be friends with someone and treat people how you want to be treated and they made a grade feel like a team The students are also really sweet and approachable for help and sweet to talk to And if it wasn’t for the school system I wouldn’t of found or be doing what I love in Tafe So if your thinking about sending your children here I would strongly recommend this school So thank you Penola
This school takes great pride in getting to know individual student needs and ensuring that these are factored into lessons and future planning of the college. The staff are extremely approachable and have created an aspirational environment for all to succeed
