Last week my wife and I, along with several friends had the opportunity to revisit The Common. We had dined previously, shortly after it opened, and were encouraged by the quality of the food and service at that time. It was pleasing to note that if anything it was even better. The staff were efficient and friendly. The food was interesting and varied. There was much pinching of items of food from the other plates on the table. We are sure to revisit again and try the evening service.
Coffee was great, food good but service very average! Lady serving our family group of 15 was not very accomodating in fitting us in altogether, even on a quiet Monday morning 'Don't arrange furniture!' Surely an adult serve of popcorn chicken isn't difficult to plate up. On a positive, they do allow split bills. Further PR training required.
Staff were friendly and the atmosphere and layout of the restaurant is great, however they brought us the wrong order. Because we were in a hurry we just had it. We also wanted a second drink, but no one approached us, so we went without.
Third Chapter (formerly The Common) is by far my favourite cafe in Eltham. As a Melbournian and foodie I have tried all of Eltham's cafes and none compare to the quality of food, coffee and MOST importantly the service - than at Third Chapter. It's exciting to see and new and much improved menu and also renovation of the old 'Common' cafe. The new owners clearly have a vision and have really worked with the space creating a fresh new atmosphere. Food is simply delicious and the coffee was amazing. Looking forward to coming back!
Delicious roast coffee beans made into mature latte with a very competent barista on duty. Fantastic coming back to Eltham after 16 years to delicious organic food and cosy and comfortable decor. Recommended heartily!
Lovely decor and tone. Very nice food with moderate pricing. Breakfast til 3.
Use to be fantastic but now it's has gone down hill. Huge waits for average food and the menu is disappointing compared to what it use to be.
