Just had dinner here, first of all the assorted sashimi was incredible, so fresh and delicious! Also enjoyed the lamb cutlets. The kids liked the kaarage and chicken skewers and we finished the meal nicely with some complimentary refreshers. I would come here again just for the sashimi! Really nice gem of a place in Drummoyne

Nice stylish modern decor something out of Surry Hills or the city. Food was nicely presented and delicious, but all on the small side for the price. Morton Bay bug tempura was done nicely. Service was very attentive and knowledgeable about three menu. Price was on the high side in comparison to similar places in other areas

This is our own personal experience and it may differ with others. We came here with high expectations as the website and marketing collateral states that they are the BEST Japanese restaurant in Sydney. A big claim and unfortunately it did not live up to it. We love modern Japanese and what we were plated with in terms of taste was not what we expected. Overall, the food had a consistent sickly sweetness to it which we didn't like as much. We had a dozen oysters (oysters were already salty and with the salted pond sauce it kind of ruined the fresh oyster taste. Maybe a citrus twist to the sauce would've made balanced the saltiness) , the kingfish with jalapeños (highlight of the night), popcorn shrimp (drenched with a sweet mayo overpowered the battered prawns) miso cod (Amanda found a fish bone as she was chewing that was approximately 4cm which we notified staff) and lambs racks (again with a sweet glaze, which we only ate one chop out of the four). HOWEVER, the service was amazing, ambience was great and loved the wall art. We provided our feedback to the restaurant manager and he provided us with complimentary drinks and a side dish. Again it was our own personal experience, the food just didn't meet our expectations. It was consistently sweet, but not a balanced salty sweetness, a higher sweet to salt ratio.

Felt a craving for a sushi train... to my dismay I walked in to a Japanese paradise. they had me at the seafood display at the front counter... I was shook. A fabulous lady escorted me to an intimate table upstairs. everything i ordered was absolutely gorgeous, succulent and full of flavour. To finish off my experience the dessert was soft, creamy and sexual. Coming here was the best decision I’ve made this year.

One of my fave Japanese in Sydney! Seafood always fresh! Not talking about food presentation. It’s got a cool atmosphere too! Worth a try!

By far, my favourite restaurant in Drummoyne. Quality and freshness of food is just amazing. The staff is very nice. Small and cozy place. Great atmosphere. Kids are welcome, though no special menu for kids. Highly recommended, though not cheap.

We were the winner of the Valentines day dinner and it was absolutely superb! We had a baby with us and they accommodated us without even asking. The staff were super attentive and the food was so fresh it was like a I was eating seafood fresh off the boat! I highly recommend Umii for a romantic dinner or having dinner out with the family! Will definitely be back shortly. Keep up the great work guys!
