In my personal experience: while I don’t doubt her clinical knowledge, I think you can find better. And for the rate you pay, I want to be happy with the service. I felt she barely listened to anything i had to say, diagnosis and treatment seemed stock standard, and she seemed to change strategies each time I saw her. She also suggested my treatment was prescribable by my GP, but would then keep booking me in to return, only to see me for about five minutes, giggling, and then proceeding to talk at me. God forbid I raised any questions or concerns. To be fair, my condition did improve, but I made the choice to find another Dr.

This is the first review I've ever written. I am doing so to advise people who need dermatology treatment to steer clear of this particular dermatologist. I had informed her I had adverse reactions to mometasone furoate ointment. She prescribed Zatamil. She told me to use it liberally over the entire affected area of my body saying I'd use up a tube a day. Guess what? Zatamil is actually mometasone furoate! I just found out because I'm travelling and had another flareup and needed some ointment. I told the gp I didn't like the results of the Zatamil much and that I would prefer something else but not with mometasone furoate because I react to it. He said Zatamil WAS mometasone furoate. No wonder my eczema did not clear up first time around. I hadn't even looked at the ingredients because it didn't occur to me someone would actually prescribe an ointment you had already told them you were allergic to. I actually already had the feeling she wasn't really listening to me. I'm a health professional and had looked up things re eczema on CIAP (Cochrane) and she dismissed everything I asked her as 'old information and no longer valid. That would be highly unusual since CIAP, which includes access to DermNetNZ, is there solely for the purpose of making up to date research available. for evidence based practice. Then, the moisturiser she prescribed had glycerin- even though I had informed her I am allergic to it. It was so greasy and thick that I ruined at least 3 t shirts and sets of sheets using it and I developed white head pimples on my arms after using it for 3 days. The pimples stayed for about 5 weeks. I rang the office to complain about the poor results and never heard anything back. I was also denied a telehealth consult which would have saved me 7-8 hours of driving and my consult took under 15 minutes. It cost about 250 and 85 for ointments at the chemist. I recommend you find someone else- anyone else. I wish I could give minus stars...
Find someone else. She is a nice person to work with but as a doctor she does not offer a comprehensive service. The price is clearly taking advantage of the situation and the time and service you receive is not good enough. She would do well from making more time for customers, working with them on diet, probiotics and gut bacteria information, as well as mood and other side affects of the treatments she provides. I expect better and have found better.
I've been a patient of Dr Rubel's for several years now. She treats you as a human being and not just another patient for your money. Always asks me about my life etc. And for medical advice, she always explains the different effects and expectations of my course of medication. I've been to several dermatologists over my life and Dr Rubel is easily the best.
She showed up an hour late for my appointment with her, giggling with coffee in her hand. Didn't treat me like a patient or discuss anything with me so I understood. Just wanted to cut chunks out of my skin.
Very happy with the professional advice and service received from Dr Rubel in relation to my basal cell carcinomas, and acne treatment for my child. Dr Rubel also has a lovely bedside manner which is always greatly appreciated.
Referral faxed a week back and no response or acknowledgement from practice. Upon calling them for a second time to get a response I was told to contact another provider as Dr Rubel doesn't have time to see referrals. So why is this not communicated from the start. I have waisted a week on waiting for something that is not going to happen
