This is a fabulous museum. It is small and compact, but engages the visitor in the history and the challenges of the wild waters of Bass Strait. The building is a wonderful mix of old (harbour masters home) and the new. A great cafe too!

Very interesting museum, with lot of details about local history. The ship simulator is amazing, kids love it.

Nice spot especially outside in the sun, some more umbrellas would be great. Dog friendly too. Nice coffee and cakes. Could do with some atmosphere such as super friendly service and good music outside. Next time will try a meal here.

We visited the Bass Strait Maritime Centre on 16 Sept. Very friendly reception. Guides are very knowledgeable and full of stories. Had a go on the simulation - lots of fun! Thank goodness I don't steer a ship for a living! The simulation is an additional 2 per person to entry fee and there are 6 simulations to choose from with various levels of difficulty. The other exhibits are very interesting. Well worth a visit!

Excellent collections and customer service. However, a visit won't take more than half a day for most people.

Visited many time in the past and enjoyed the experience. So back again after few years absence. The old harbour masters building has been extended to cater for more inter active exhibits. Knot tying, making paper hats etc etc not part of the museum outlook hence the maritime center brand. Simulator is great for all ages. 2 a go is great value. The lady on the desk was very helpful. It is still well worth a visit but was more history orientated before. Feel it has been "upgraded" for school kids visits etc. Yep I'll be back in a couple of years to check it out again.

interesting museum. Small buts packs a lot in. Lots of rooms to wander around and the exhibits easy displayed to see.Different time periods in local history covered. Saw lots of families with young children enjoying the experience too. Children especially enjoying the ship. Staff where friendly and helpful. Would recommend a visit.
