Contrabando is located in Sydney, Australia on 131 Macquarie St. Contrabando is rated 4.3 out of 5 in the category mexican restaurant in Australia. The food at Contrabando is not Mexican. Or at least it isn't authentic Mexican. Its more of an homage to the latin street vendors in Southern California.

Executive chef Peter Varvaressos has fallen in love with the Californian - Latino - Korean craze sweeping southern cali’. Contrabando is an interpretation of his travels.

We like to think that our food can be inhaled in one hand with a margarita in the other. No rules, just fun with flavours.

A bit late to post, but the best tacos I’ve ever had! The bulgogi beef taco and fish taco are AMAZING. Haven’t found a fish taco that is comparable. Looking forward to the day that they reopen

Popped in for the express lunch and it was so great. Perfect amount of food and LOADED with flavour. You can tell everything has been thought out and prepared fresh, no store bought tacos here thank F. The margarita line up is next level and I cannot wait to get in for dinner.

Best tasting Tacos in town! Came here for taco Tuesday. Tacos were perfectly priced at 3 each. We each had one of each taco. The service was decent. Staff were busy rushing about but still friendly and smiling. My new favourite taco-Tuesday spot.

I bought the tacos from Groupon, the tacos are great, I love it!!! The staffs are nice, pretty and helpful, but I think they need more staffs to make it optimal on the busy days. The one let down are the delay between the tacos to the next tacos, I hope I can get it served faster, but in the flipside you always get fresh hot taco from the kitchen. My favourite are the beef and fish one, but I can say the other tacos also great. Finish it with beverages they serve here and it will be perfect. Got them four stars for their booking schedule on Groupon and lack of staffs, other aspects are five stars.

This place was quite nice and service was good. We ate as a group for dinner and it was good. We were able to have one of each and my favourite was the bulgogi short rib and 12hr braised lamb.

Fantastic lunch at a very good price. I wish I had taken photos, it all looked fantastic. We took our 10 month old baby in and it's not exactly baby friendly (no ramp and no high chairs) but it wasn't a problem either.

Great Mexican in Sydney Lovely staff and delicious food you can’t miss the guacamole. Tapas and enchiladas were also perfect. The churros are slightly different from the typical ones where they are densely covered in sugar. I prefer the classic ones and I would like to request them from the chef
