Circus Media was born when founder Carly Post fell happily yet quite unexpectedly pregnant with her first child – something that typically stalls a career rather than launches it. The curve ball forced Carly to question how she wanted to live her life and, with the encouragement of both her family and her colleagues, she set about starting about starting her own consultancy. Carly foresaw that the media landscape was changing dramatically alongside the rise of social media and deliberately set up Circus Media as what she calls a ‘non-traditional’ PR agency with an integrated approach – also offering organic and paid social media management, content creation, influencer marketing, design and small-scale events. She has since gone from a solo operation, 8-months pregnant on her laptop at her kitchen table, to a large portfolio of clients and a staff of five – including her sister Emily, who serves as Client Services Director. Together the sisters have become a dynamic force of business – Carly, the big storyteller with the magnetic personality and gung-ho approach couples perfectly with Emily’s more strategic and process-driven way of operating, reinforced by the natural ability of both to establish and nurture client relationships. The sisters have now built a business that is focused firmly on the ‘why’ rather than the ‘what’ and in a world where it’s no longer enough to simply ‘make great work’, Circus Media is a purpose-driven agency committed to its core values of opportunity, flexibility, empowerment, relationships, knowledge, leadership and adventure.
