I tried this restaurant because I'd never tried any Czech food before - but I saw everyone having a schnitzel and that's what I got too - it's absolutely HUGE!!! MY wife got something more traditional (can't remember what it's called - but it was tomato-based with the bread dumplings) - I'm chinese, so I was expecting different type of dumplings - so, it was more just bread, than dumpling, but it was called a dumpling! Serving sizes are generous, and the price is good for Newtown - very affordable.

eaten here quite a few times for lunch and cant believe its not more popular - they have some fantastic 10 meals - including rissotos, half roast chickens - and they're delicious!! not the greatest setting indoors can be quite dark but the food and the service more than make up for it - i would also recommend the grilled calamari to start with!! yummy!

Great place with delicious cheap food and drinks. The owners are lovely and the food is definitely something different for Newtown. It's a cheerful little place that is perfect if you want to try something a bit different on a budget.

Very small place but such flavoursome food! If you're looking for something different, go and try a bit of eastern europe, you won't regret eat! Nice and cheap, what else?

It took quite a long time for our food to arrive, but the waitress was nice enough to come by and explain to us about the large party that they had to deal with. When it finally did arrive, I found my roulade to be overly salty, but that doesn't seem to be a common problem across the table.

This place stands out on the northern end of King St thanks to its yellow shopfront, and my group wandered in and had no trouble getting a seat. We ordered a healthy dose of starters, mains and Czech beer that went down exceedingly well. We sampled some of the potato fritters and grilled haloumi and both were enjoyable fare, though the potato fritters could have been warmer. The main was a dish you wouldn't ordinarily see in Thai-crazy King St - a beef roll-up with a gravy sauce and additional potato fritters. I loved the roll-up: meat, egg, and pickles all blended together as a guilty delight - with the sauce providing an excellent base for mopping up with the fritters. Reasonably priced for the level of heartiness that went into each meal too. Great winter fare.

Yes, they serve some traditional czech food, but their burgers are excellent and great value. With friendly service too it's a great option for lunch in Newtown.
