I purchased 99.00 Cenzoni leather dress shoes via a local store. They were taupe in colour with a gradient to black over the toe. Within the first wear, the black started wearing off, even from my jeans simply brushing on the top of the shoe! Evidently, the black is simply painted onto the surface with no intention of it remaining there. While I felt within my rights to insist on a refund or repair, I decided to be more than fair. I emailed the company to simply ask what product was used to darken the toe so I could restore the colour every so often. My email was ignored. I rang up, only to get a receptionist who, instantaneously, tried to fob me off to the retailer. When it was pointed out that the retailer wouldn't know what the manufacturer had used, she agreed for me to send pictures of the shoes. Eventually, a text message arrives saying the boss recommends I take the shoes to my local shoe repairman (evidently at my cost). In replied with a polite but firm email expressing my displeasure. No response. I wrote later: "Well, what has your boss decided to do?" Hours later, the boss rang me. The call was short and somewhat "huffy". He said he had no idea what product was used because they only import the shoes and he knows nothing about them. No apologies and no help offered other than a repeat of the suggestion to take them to a local repairman at my cost. One day later, and I've discovered the over-all taupe colour of one shoe is getting darker than the other shoe. Quite different from their 'quality assurance' referred to on their website! A poor quality product with poor service and no warranty. It does seem the local retailer will come to our aid. I wouldn't go near Cenzoni with a 10-foot pole!
