I have been with Gold Coast School of Guitar now for around a year and a half and am amazed at the changes in myself since I began this experience. Not only with my physical ability to play the instrument, but also with my concentration levels and the growth of my musical mind (as I like to call it). Before I met Allen, I had never even picked up a guitar, so the decision to attend Gold Coast School of Guitar was a daunting one. From day one, Allen has been so patient and encouraging with me, and continually instilled in me the idea that learning the guitar is less about natural talent and almost all about consistent practice and personal will to learn. Who would have thought that in such a short space of time, I would record a short video of myself playing and singing my first song. Anyone who knows me understands that this is quite an achievement however rough around the edges it is. Allen is not just a Master Guitarist and Teacher, he is an eternal student of guitar who has never failed to impress me with the way he is constantly searching for new proven concepts, training techniques, smart phone apps or anything that will allow his students to learn faster, play better and continue to enjoy the experience in a light-hearted casual environment. Allen has the ability to subtly coerce you to get more from yourself than you think you have. As a father of two, who works long hours, it can be hard to know what to do in a short space of spare time. However Allen teaches us how to practice effectively on our own without overwhelm which is probably the most valuable lesson of all. I am now without doubt that I have the skills and ability to make my guitar dreams a reality. I look forward to my next year with Gold Coast School of Guitar, God help you Allen! Darren Jones

Allen is an excellent guitar teacher and has a wealth of knowledge and experience that he shares with his students. He caters for a wide range of abilities - such as getting complete novices to play along with a song in their first lesson, to developing technique and theory, through to more advanced workshops. Plus, it's great fun to play together as a group.

I tried to learn guitar many years ago but became very frustrated after trying three different teachers and ended up giving it up. Fast Forward 30 years and I happened to see an ad for Gold Coast School of Guitar. I have been there now for four and a half years and have found Allen to be an excellent teacher, and I really enjoy learning in the group environment. A lot of fun with a great group of people and with minimum pressure. Another great thing Allen does is he teaches you how to practice which noone else had shown me. Your age doesn't matter, if you want to have fun and learn a new and enjoyable life skill and meet some new friends give Allen a call. You won't be sorry. Jim Page.
