Over the weekend I completed the 'Indoor to Outdoor Conversion' rock climbing course with Hugh. - Hugh was an enthusiastic and knowledgable climbing instructor. He adapted his teaching well to varying levels of climbing experience in the group. Hugh is undoubtedly an experienced instructor. He knew when to observe the students from afar to give them independence and confidence to manage climbing situations following the course, conversely knowing when didactic teaching was required. For example, he spent time closely reviewing my route cleaning method. - The course curriculum was comprehensive providing both theoretical teachings and practical experience to safely participate in outdoor rock climbing. Thank you Blue Mountains Climbing school for a valuable and personally rewarding course. Liam

Did a 3-day course with these guys and it couldn’t have gone better! I learnt so much and had an amazing time. I did an individual course so it was catered specifically to me and included a variety of skills I wanted to learn including rope rescue skills, trad and multi-pitch climbing, and canyoning. Thanks for being so accommodating!

Took a 2 day lead course with Hugh, the course was educational and fun. Hugh was very thorough going through every step and ensuring we've got it right, with his humourous teaching style keeping the course entertaining. Hugh's teaching was so good, the next day I woke up on a wall in the middle of clipping.

Taking the "Indoor to Outdoor Conversion" course with instructor Hugh was a fantastic experience. Starting to climb outdoor is something I've wanted to do for a long time and finding this course was the best way to do it. Hugh was great at assessing everyone's competence and safety; it felt both safe and sublime the entire time. I would definitely recommend this to anyone considering lead climbing outdoor, especially independently. Hugh's knowledge and advice not only on how to safely lead, belay and clean, but also on how to safely assess gear, routes and organise such a trip was invaluable and gave me the confidence to do so that I didn't have before. Hugh was a genuinely lovely guy who made everyone feel comfortable and made sure we were all competent and able to complete every aspect of the course. The course is also backed up with some theory, history (and great gear, of course). Hugh's wealth of knowledge regarding the community and culture is also worth engaging with to be a better member of the climbing community. Overall, this was a fantastic experience that will definitely make my year. What could be better than safely learning a practical skill while overlooking the beautiful Blue Mountains? And then realising you can get out there again. Thanks so much to Hugh and the crew, see you all out there, Al

Took the indoor to outdoor conversion course A fully comprehensive course covering all the way from lead climbing basics to cleaning routes. Had a great weekend out with the guys from BMCS and as someone who had previously only used top rope indoors I now feel fully prepared to independently climb out-doors.

Did the indoor lead course with Charles at The Edge, loved every minute! Course content was good, plenty to go out and practice. Charles kept it fun, slipped in a bit of humour, and was also very professional and helpful throughout. Cheers!

I did the indoor to outdoor conversion course. The owner and instructor, Hugh, was awesome. On the first day, we went over the theory of top rope/lead climbing before heading out and practising lead climbing on a few easy climbs. On the second day we practised lead falls which was freaky but Hugh was awesome and helped me through it. We then climbed for the rest of the day. A very tailored experience. I would highly recommend!

Signed up for a 3 day multi pitch climbing course and had a blast! Our instructor Hugh was super patient, knowledgable and thoughtful. One of our days was rain-checked due to 90kph winds, and Hugh was kind enough to re-jiggle the schedule to work around the bad weather. Hugh spotted us with some gloves and hot bevvies which were crucial given the bad weather. Had an amazing time and would not think twice to do a trad course at a later time.
