A once in a lifetime experience. If you want to get up close and personal with these majestic birds then just bring along some bin juice and apply it to your skin; they will be all over you! Lost a star because the ferry driver wouldn’t let me back on due to my “stench” and rudely suggested I swim back!

Coburg’s hidden oasis! It is immediately apparent why the Ibis is known as a sacred bird in many cultures so it’s no wonder they have become an endearing part of the local Coburg consciousness. Pack a picnic lunch for an enjoyable afternoon at the island but be sure to plan ahead and check the ferry timetable. If camping isn’t your thing (not everyone is into “roughing” it!) there is the Coburg Motor Inn which is a short walking distance from the island and is thoroughly recommended.

As a local resident, Bin Chicken Island’s impact on local tourism has been fantastic. We are very lucky to have such a great sanctuary just down the road, with island management ensuring no chicken goes binless and that all visitors are made to feel very welcome. I would have liked to be able to buy a Bin Chicken snow globe or maybe some postcards from the gift shop, but maybe next time. The ferry ride across the lake was relaxing and very fairly priced also.

Great day out with the family today! Both kids loved the ferry ride to the island and were stoked to see the birds up close. My three year old in particular really seemed to bond with them. Would have loved a souvenir shop to have bin there for some keepsakes. Highly recommend!

Sounds like chickens smells like a bin, it's an island with few equals. Ecuador has Galapagos, Coburg has Bin Chicken Island. While admiring a mountain of guano that reminded me of Mt Fuji, I wondered if this island will also be the breeding ground of the next bird borne influenza pandemic.

Definitely a enjoyable and worthwhile trip. The ferry ride over to the island was pleasant and the staff were very knowledgeable and friendly. The wild bin chicken spotting was very exciting. I was so caught up in the moment I didn't manage to take any photos, but it will be a memory I cherish forever and will share with my grandchildren. Hope to come back again soon.

Our tour guide was lovely, although possibly a little new. I would have loved a longer tour. The waterfall is fantastic, and the bin chickens themselves were delightful! I'm just glad we brought our swimmers. I imagine it will be a while before the ferry is back in action, due to Covid. I haven't made use of the campground yet, although I've heard good things. All in all, a wonderful day trip.

This was a wonderful experience for myself and the kids. I only wish the gift shop had a scented candle range that reproduced the lovely natural scent of this island!
