Great trip up the derwent on the ferry. 3 levels of great modern art on display. The O app is great at guiding you through the art. Some of the art is very thought provoking and evocative. Definitely stirs a range of emotions

Love Mona.. An experience like no other.. Fun, bright, weird, dark.. So much to see, explore & learn.. Very sensory Located on the banks of the Derwent a short ferry trip from Hobart, Mona is Australia’s largest private museum with three levels of underground galleries, which visitors explore with custom-built, handheld technology, called the O, that tells them about the artworks on display Mona is also home to two wineries and a brewery, several bars and restaurants, luxury accommodation pavilions, a library, cemetery and tennis court.
I always have weird vibes every time I come in, the photos below will explain. There’s definitely no other odd, mind-boggling, funny museum that you will ever visit than MONA. if you are visiting Hobart this is an absolute must.
A museum that completely caught me off guard. The hype of true and it’s completely worth visiting. Starting with the cruise to MONA, 100% go for the posh pit ticket as they give u unlimited drinks and a single serve of snacks on the way to MONA. The host are super friendly and the best part, you get to access the deck as the both make it way to MONA. The museum is, as the name suggests, it’s the place for old and new. How long it will take to tour? Well, personally I find half day is enough but if you keen on knowing all the arts then, you might want a whole day or 1.5 days. There are so many interesting exhibitions. It’s hard to put my experience into words as somethings are meant to be experienced by yourself. I will leave it up to you.
The location and setting was beautiful. The grounds relaxing, and had a great vibe outside, and that's where the positives end. We watched the line up grow 3 times before we decided to line up ourselves. There was no social distancing or regard for others,it was disgustingly over populated. We don't see how it was deemed covid safe at all, even though it said it was booked out, numerous people were allowed to go and get another re entry ticket to join our time slot A small entry and exit into the museum , only one way in and out. One small lift and stairs case. We found a toilet.... Yes, A toilet, just one on one of the floors and it was a shared toilet for women, children and men, that line up was fun. It was also a very warm day and there seemed to be what felt like no air circulating anywhere. With the amount of people allowed inside, it was horrible and uncomfortable. Not something we would do again even if it was free. Just our opinion, we all have one.
Quirky museum with a lot of different art installations and era. Besides the museum, it’s surrounded with sophisticated restaurants, bars, views of Derwent River, shops and outdoor space/ entertainment with food trucks. Make sure you finish your takeaway coffee as they don’t allow drinks indoors
Incredible. Loved it, though quite a challenge coming up with appropriate answers for the inquiring 10 year old. Some pretty mature exhibits mixed in along the way. The steps up from the boat might be a bit much for the older of us, but there is a bus option. Oh, and definitely worth booking I'd you want to eat in the posh places, but food is available up top too.
Awesome place to visit even if you are not paying to go inside for the exhibit. At the back there's live music, cafe and burger joint. We had a great time.
