Beaches n toilets are very clean, the water is pristine n clear. No waves, ideal for children n visitors who don't know how to read the rips. Do b careful, 2 huge black manta rays around the boat ramp. Down side of this beautiful beach!!! There are no shade from the sun. If u do decide 2 visit...sun screen, a tent, beach umbrellas or marquee is a must

No longer the best seafood in the Bay. Grilled fish appeared steamed. Chips quality was varied, between over cooked and under cooked. Flake portions however were good. No EFTPOS available, rather an in store ATM. No sure how this remains the 'best practice' COVID preferred option.
No EFTPOS is hardly acceptable these days, especially given the 3 fee to withdraw money conventionally inside the store... With regards to the food, the fisherman's basket tasted fresh however the serving at 16.50 was relatively small. We also got the flake but it was absolutely tiny and I had to go back to check I got one and that it wasn't a kids fish bite! The chips were pretty good overall but very inconsistent on cooked vs undercooked. Due to EFTPOS issue my friend went to the fish n chip place next door and while we didn't think the fish was as fresh, it was substantially better value, quicker and many more options (steak sandwich was highly recommended). The service at Bernys felt like I was putting them out by asking for an order even after trying to be over the top friendly as I had seen the abrupt responses with the customer before me. I was annoyed at the attitude of "customer service" after giving me what is the smallest flake I have ever seen, there was no apology, or explanation apart from a "deal with it" attitude... Overall, I think your experience could be good if you get lucky with the fish size, fish available, have a wad of cash in your pocket and fussed about choice as menu items to choose from are somewhat limited. The park opposite is great for kids, however there isn't any lighting when it gets dark. I personally won't head to Bernys again and will explore many of the alternatives.
The greatest fish and chips shop I've been to in Australia! My parents have told me a lot about this place and I finally could try it myself. It was better than I expected on all levels possible. Starting off with the oysters, they were fresh, clean-tasting and so meaty. You could tell these were shucked not too long. Choosing the fish was a tough choice. In their display, you could see all the fresh fish fillets to choose from. No frozen fillet in sight like what you get from other fish and chip places. Batter was perfect on the flathead and the meat was sweet and succulent. The chips was by far the greatest I've had anywhere. I would drive 4hrs for these chips. Thick cut with the crispy outer layer so golden and crunchy my mouth was excited with every bite. I cannot recommend this place enough. I will be coming back here for sure and bringing everyone!
The food was more than acceptable and prices roughly on par but it took ages. Almost an hour wasted standing in line then waiting (40 mins ) for our food. On a day trip to the beach it is one less hour that I got to spend on the beach with my family. The take away next was way quicker from what I could tell, so that is where we will eat next time.
Slow Service , too much batter ordered seafood basket couldn't pay extra to grill my fish so was charged individually for every item . And received 1 less prawn cutlet.ordered 5 salt and pepper squid got 4. So instead of paying for a 25 lunch without a drink I paid 38 without a drink ... food was oily and there was more left over batter that was pulled off the seafood than what there was seafood
Just as normal as every other fish and chips outlets. Fairly charged, no EFTPOS, but ATM inside. Foods was cooked well, hot but too salty! Fresh oysters, prawns available. Wait time was acceptable.
Battered grenadier and perch was delicious and batter was crispy. Crumbed calamari was tender. Both were plentiful serves. Fresh oysters and prawns were delicious (and fresh) too. The only disappointment were the chips. Soggy. Give the chips a miss but everything else, including friendly service, was great.
