Pauline

In honor of National Physical Therapy Month I would like to give a shout-out to my Physio, Pauline Slater from Move to Learn-Learn-To Move. She is originally from Sydney, and she specialises in many areas; one of these being Hypermobility Ehlers Danlos Syndrome and Autism. I have struggled all my life with basic tasks and chronic pain as a result of my autism, and Hypermobility Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, which was previously undiagnosed. I had worked with many allied health and medical professionals that didn’t know how or what to do to help me. I found they; often didn’t look past the autism label, and that just left me in pain many years until I turned 21 and found Pauline through the EDS Society Medical Professionals Directory. She is not just a physiotherapist; She goes above and beyond; From the start, her manner and therapies have made a positive impact on my quality of life. She has been a patient advocate with getting me multiple diagnoses. She has counselled me when the medical and disability system has defeated me. I never knew that much of my pain was caused by subluxations, tendons, and ligaments moving around until Pauline started to see the joints pop out and pointed it out. She explained to an ASD wired brain the anatomy of where my pain is and defined clearly what was going on. I am now better educated about my body and my problem. When I am in significant pain, I know I will always have someone in my corner that will understand the situation. I highly recommend Pauline! Holly James
