Visiting hours during covid are terrible for patients. Staff are bullies. Do not recommend. I’ve been there several times in and out of lockdown and it’s not a good place to be.

This place really helped me a lot. I was suffering a lot from depression and anxiety, I had the vulnerability to developing borderline personality disorder. Did 7 courses of TMS (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation) and a change of meds and honestly I am starting to enjoy life more. Belmont also provides therapy groups where you learn about your condition and coping strategies for it. The groups are less about talking about your issues but actually learning the psychology behind it, which is honestly much more helpful in my in opinion. Of course, sometimes there are bad parts to the good. Including the management of admissions and even communication between the hospital and the patient in regards to admissions and appointments could be made better. The reason of "oh we are overcapacity" when some patients are being disrespected or not cared for properly left a bit of a bad taste. I have left my review for management about this nonetheless. Overall I would still recommend belmont to others, especially their out-patient therapy programs and TMS therapy, they have a lot to offer. Plus they have a cafe on campus every morning! (Open till 1.30p m I believe). The other patients are also all very welcoming and understanding. One tip for anyone first going to belmont is that try not to depend on the nurses or other patients to solve all your issues. Recovery comes with hard work and responsibility for yourself as well. Belmont gives you the perfect start and foundation for you to get better from mental illness and disordered thinking.
I have been a previous patient twice at Belmont. The staff have been wonderful, helpful and caring. Professor Soman Elangovan is a fantastic Psychiatrist and has been treating me for about 3 years now. The nurses, the catered food, programs and creative activities at Belmont are amazing and it's a place you can meet interesting people and understand their situations. Thankyou Belmont Private Hospital and thankyou Soman Elangovan for your continued care, understanding and support!
A close family member of mine is admitted here and honestly, the way she is treated and spoken to by the nurses is outright disgusting. No empathy, awful communication, loads of attitude, very condescending and when she asks for help they act like she's being inconvenient to them. Their treatment of her has distressed my whole family and we don't feel like she is safe in their care, particularly in her fragile state. I'm really not even sure if the nurses there have any mental health training at all, it's appalling. Do not go to this hospital and do not send your struggling loved ones there.
My dad was under Dr Sean Giles who helped give my father a proper diagnosis and assist with getting his mental health difficulties under control. The hospital itself was wonderful. My father was not released until things were well and truly sorted for him and it was safe for him to return home. It is sad that people need to go private for this type of care. My dad's first admission was for around 6 to 8 weeks. A friend of mine who was experiencing psychosis with Schizophrenia was only admitted in the public system for 4 days. He was dead two weeks later due to psychosis. I am thankful that Belmont does not operate like this and that they take their duty of care seriously. Thank you for the care you provided my father.
My review is specifically about Dr Dagmar Hlincikova, I’ve been seeing her for about a month now, she has been supportive, knowledgeable and caring. I didn’t know what to expect but I would highly recommend her. I was highly distressed and anxious when I started my treatment with Dr Dagmar Hlincikova, when contacting other psychiatrists they were advising 3-6 month waits. I expressed my distress about potential wait times to her lovely receptionist Michelle and passed on my referral and they got me an appointment the next week. I have never waited longer than 5-10 mins and in all fairness to Dr Hlincikova I was distraught in my first appointment and my time ran over, she didn’t cut me off and tell me time was up, she was compassionate and took the time to discuss my options. She has been straight to the point when I’ve needed it but is personable and gentle, she has literally changed my life for the better.
My husband entered Belmont due to depression. It was my hope that they would help him see that his life wasn't useless and give him strength. They had 2 conversations with me in 6 weeks, and he rarely saw a psychiatrist. The day he got out, he ended our marriage of 12 years. They did nothing positive for him. He changed into a completely different person to me and his family and now believes he needs to be medicated. According to him, he was encouraged to be single. This hospital destroyed my family.
They refuse to admit patients with an untreated psychosis. Even when that patient doesn't have one. Presumably they put patients on the wrong meds so they can keep sucking money out of the health funds for years. Surprised they haven't installed a revolving door yet.
