I was not happy with tonight’s service (Saturday night) it was extremely busy!! When we entered, they didn’t take us to our table and told us to just sit outside! And they did not come out to take our order, I had to walk in to ask them to take our order! I ordered the Buddha bowl, it was a little salty! The flavouring was in between Chinese & Thai cuisine, as this restaurant is based on fusion cuisines, so it included Thai, Chinese, Korean & Japanese! Tasted nice but it was a little too salty for me, so I had to absorb it with steamed rice to balance out the flavours. My brother-in-law’s food order didn’t arrive!! He ordered fried fish, and he asked one of the staffs to check on his order, but they never came back with a response, so I took charge and I went to ask again, with my firm voice. Then they finally arrived!! He liked it, but he did not appreciate the kind of service he received. When it was time to pay, it took forever to even pay for our order! I noticed that Uber eats and people that ordered takeaway from the restaurant were the main priority, disregarding the customers eating in the restaurant. They took awhile to attend to us in the start, but once they took our order, they did provide us the high chair for my nephew who is a toddler, which I appreciated. The papaya salad tasted delicious, the Buddha bowl (a little salty) the coconut was small with barely anything inside & it was 7.00! What the? We wanted to order the desserts, but the service took too long, so we decided to go home without dessert. We paid 112.77 in total (pictures below)

Away from the Main Street but we were lucky to find this hidden gem. I really like your Nasi Goreng.

This was the best Thai food my family and I have ever had. It was a great experience! We got takeaway and we were in a motel that did not have any plates or cutlery so the woman who served us included it in the bag. I would 100% suggest this place when you are in Katoomba!!

Basil Nut Cafe offers exquisite meals and impeccable service. The gyoza were a knock out. The spring rolls were unique. The Pad Thai with prawns was to die for, flavoursome and generously sized. The staff were wonderful. Friendly without overstepping, and incredibly kind - the young male waiter helped an older woman out of her chair, walked her out slowly, chatted with her with patience and good humour, called her a taxi and stayed with her until it arrived. I've never seen that level of care in customer service. What a wonderful place. Very family friendly. Incredibly busy, with bookings hard to get, so be organised and call well in advance.
