Opened term deposit. Moved overseas. Cannot change phone number. Term deposit matures - cannot withdraw because phone number. Call support - "nothing can be done". Speak to manager. Something can be done. Changing phone number takes a week to finalise. Can finally withdraw term deposit. 30 fee because term deposit rollover grace period ended. "Sorry we cannot waive this fee".

The most amazing experience ever. I moved to Australia and visited here twice just to open an account, and the staff even told me that I need to bring the proof of overseas address, and proof of my parents' address, and proof of other things. Excuse me? Well, I wonder if I need to take my death certificate or proof of my cemetery address to open an account.

I am curious if the people who answer the phone on the 1300 BANKING number have even received training before they start answering calls? I was querying a fee on my account which they told me was charged by my internet company. So, after waiting on hold I then finally got through to my internet company. Who then had no record of this charge. So I then decided to call the Marrickville branch directly to finally be told it was a charge by BoS and they will refund it. All of this could have been avoided if the staff on the central number actually are trained etc. Overall this took 4 calls to BoS and 2 to my internet company to be resolved. Not happy. Thank you to the staff at Marrickville who actually know what they’re doing!

Seriously. How do I reach you guys. Tried calling 4 times in 3 days. None of the calls got through. Left messages per instructions and NO ONE calls back. Will try emailing next. Not every one lives/work near the branch. Do I have to take time off work just to talk to you?

My experience is in total contrast to another comment. The staff were friendly, efficient & helpful. Not yet require hi-tech banking app so cannot comment on this.

The most terrible experience with a bank ever! The worst customer service ever! Recently refinanced our home loan to Bank of Syd through a broker, and we were told we will get a credit card as a part of package. They have not sent the credit card after 2 weeks yet, and when I called them to follow up on it they just say they don't issue the credit cards yet and they are not sure when it starts! When I asked about the estimate (e.g. a week, a month, or a year ) they answered they are not sure. I asked when I could call them to have an answer and they again said they are not sure. "I am not sure" was the only answer I got from the customer service operator! Apart from that, I have not received the debit card on the link account yet, whereas my husband got his last week (it's a joint account), again when I asked about it, she said she is not sure why that has happened but I will probably get it in the next week ! Why, so late ? they are not sure ! We also did not receive any information pack on the home loan after settlement on when/how to do the repayments until I called them and emailed them multiple times.
