Wow, the amount of work that has gone into this display is amazing! The guide (son-in-law of the collector) was a font of knowledge and after introducing the collection allows you to take your own time to look closer. We spent an hour and really only glanced at everything. It really is a wonder how much is here: butterflies, insects, shells, ammonites, snake specimens, Queensland wood and stone samples, egg carvings etc, etc. Please note, they only take cash; something I've not used for months with COVID!

Astounding the amount of effort put in by the Allan Ey to collect and arrange the 66,000 specimens. The kids were amazed and thrilled by all the bugs, butterflies and shells. Four kids under 10 spent over an hour wandering around without destroying anything - that's how engrossed they were! The curator was great with the children and gave heaps of information. Well worth the very small admission fee.
The little gem is not widely known to tourists but it is a must visit place for anyone who loves art. The lady there is very friendly and she takes great care of the exhibition. She is there to explain the artifact and share her knowledge. We enjoyed our time there and she was very happy to answer questions from kids about the display. This place only takes cash.
