Amaru is an elegant fine dining restaurant nestled amongst the High Street Armadale shopping district. The ambience inside is modern and quiet with lots of space between tables. We were treated to a fifteen course degustation accompanied by a lovely bottle of Rhone Valley wine. Each course was small and delicate stimulating the full spectrum of our taste buds. They were brought out one at a time with a description provided by the chef who had prepared them. The creations were interesting and deliciously tasty. Staff were friendly and attentive. If you are a foodie who enjoys innovative food, you must try Amaru.

Came here for wife's birthday and we had the degustation menu (included a photo of it at the time). Out of the dozen dishes we had only 1 dish I didn't like but that was purely due to my preferences (the pink snapper dish). Everything other dish had some very interesting flavours and textures I've never had before and really enjoyed. The service was amazing as you'd expect and what I didn't expect were the Chef's to present the dishes themselves and explain their creations (makes sense though when you think about it!). We sat on the table directly opposite the kitchen (one of the most open kitchen's I've ever seen) and had a blast watching them make every dish. The pacing was perfect and food was served with immaculate timing. One other thing I'd like to really highlight is how satisfyingly quiet all the chefs work. It's great because it really adds to the ambience and I can have a nice conversation without the expected busyness and noise that usually comes from a kitchen. Yes it is very expensive per head but I honestly felt it was worth the experience. They even threw in a chocolate blood orange mousse cake for the birthday!

Absolutely perfect. Brought my partner here for his birthday and everything about our experience was flawless. The food, service, decor were faultless and not too pretentious. We must have been served by half the floor by the end of the night. Definitely recommended as a special occassion spot that can tailor to groups. Can't wait to find another reason to come back.

Just spectacular, can't believe we haven't been here before. The staff and service - impeccable, I could hear the sommelier talk about the wines forever and every wine we had was wonderful. The food was exceptional, we ordered a second serve of one of the dishes. Couldn't fault a thing! We will be going back many times!

I had a lunch today with my wife and we had the most pleasent experience there. All the staff were so kind and every single food was so nice and beautiful. The head chef was so professional and very skillful. I will definitely re-visit for dinner next time!

Had dinner here for our first anniversary, and the experience was amazing. We loved the small but closely knitted crew who were all very friendly and helpful. Having the kitchen staff serve the dish and explain it to us was definitely something we loved. Now onto the food. It was amazing. the octopus, kangaroo steak and goat milk ice cream was the highlight for us. The octopus was so tender that it changed my perspective of octopus completely. My wife doesn’t enjoy red bloody meat but still found the kangaroo steak very enjoyable. We also had the non alcoholic drink pairing and it was simply amazing. The drinks matched so well with the dishes and am in awe of the creative mind behind the drinks as it literary changed the experience. Of the 16 dishes we ate, there was 2 that we felt could use some change. The scallop with marrow sauce was great but the marrow sauce was so thick and rich that it kind of nulled the flavour of the scallop completely. Separately, it was amazing but we felt it was a bit of a waste. The other dish was the pumpkin ferro risotto like dish. the stock used to cook the ferro was amazing and the pumpkin seed sauce was also amazing but it was a rather forgetful dish compared to the others. All the said, it was 700 for the 2 of us and we still want to be back once the menu changes. definitely worth visiting.

We had a great night at Amaru. This was the first time we had fine dining since COVID. Hand sanitiser and check-in QR code was placed at the entry. Waiter was friendly and polite. The whole place including bathroom were tidy and clean. We really enjoyed the food and drinks. The menu designed with surprise but not out of ordinary. (I personally don’t like ingredients outside the normal food, for example I like food infused with herbs and spices but I don’t like herbs which they should just be plant) I found some of the fine dining tend to create something special and they just put any plants into their food, taste was funny. The food at Amaru create a good balance and you can tell the chef skills from their food. Especially the kangaroo, the meat cooked in perfect timing. The texture was tender and juicy, the most important was you couldn’t taste the sour from the meat. (Kangaroo meat rich in iron, I found the sour taste quite often) Another highlight was their home baked sourdough with lightly whipped butter. Nothing better than a freshly baked bread to make a person feel satisfied and happy. The structure of the bread was excellent, the thickness of the crust was just right. By dipping the bread into the whipped butter, in one bite, you can taste the fluffy butter melted in your mouth straight away but at the same time you can chew the bread and taste the fragrant of wheat. The taste can last quite a bit in your mouth. I asked for refill because the bread just so amazing! The last one was the hidden course, a cheese puff. A very buttery fluffy pastry with carrot chutney and topping with shaved sheep milk cheese. Let’s just say, this is another well balanced meal! Very impressed! The only food I didn’t enjoy was the mint chocolate, only because I don’t like mint flavour.
