The younger girls working here are lovely, but the older woman who I think is the manager will follow you around to the point its ridiculous and whilst I was trying on a pair of jeans I saw her peering in through the curtains and felt so shocked and violated and my friend thinks she may have been doing the same thing to her in the other stall. Luckily I think I was dressed (hopefully) when she was looking in but honestly never try anything on here if she's working that day it is such an awful experience.

Hidden in a corner of the QV is American Rag, a treasure trove of Vintage America clothing, shoes and stuff. Great people working there and I reckon Melbourne must be the vintage capital of Australia.
Overall a Great range of stuff. A bit pricey for me, but if you're dedicated to vintage fashion def go and check it out.
I was so upset and disappointed at how we were treated/spoken to by the owner. A real shame because the store has some great pieces (though admittedly still very expensive). I have no problem with a store having a no returns policy; just tell me calmly. We were berated and humiliated in front of other customers and members of staff simply for asking if we could exchange something for a (considerably less expensive) piece the day after purchasing. It was extremely rude, patronising and unnecessary. I have never left a store crying before. Kindness costs nothing! The rest of the staff seem lovely and were more than happy to help us with the exchange and even began helping me pick something more suited to me before the owner came in and made a scene. I can only hope the staff are treated well and their hard work and sales skills don't go unappreciated. Both pieces I bought went to charity a few days later so I guess it's her loss for not wanting it back and the dresses can find a lovely new home!
Lovely place but the organisation of the store was a bit overwhelming to me and not in a good way. But it has a wide range of vintage clothing that is rather beautiful.
Great vintage collection, especially the tees, but the owner of the shop is terrible, very pushy and always giving her ( never asked for) opinion. And if you decide not to buy anything she will become a bit rude. I stopped going to this store because of her which is a shake because the curation is great!
After me and my girlfriend visited the store the 1st time we had a great experience, we later decided that we needed to return or exchange something. We understood that the business does not accept returns or exchanges but as we had bartered the original item down, we thought that it was worth a try to exchange it for something half the price, therefore benefitting the store. We were met with a different woman on the 2nd time visiting who seemed far more reclusive and quiet. We explained the situation to her and she continued to belittle us both with her use of tone and judgmental attitude, eventually it became so bad other customers in the store left from the animosity in the atmosphere; we had to leave, my girlfriend had a panic attack and I felt weak. I recommend the store as a whole because of the products they sell and other staff members who work there although as we later found out, this woman was the owner of American rag. Anyone who treats their customers like this should not deserve any custom. It's a real shame because they seem to be doing well, I've heard that other members of staff do not agree with her "confrontational attitude".
Amazing range of true American vintage clothing! Lovely experience and staff. Will definitely be back :)
