Walter's Lounge offered good modern Australian cuisine S2016.260' E14843.388' Looking for food that is clearly above Australian pub food in Airlie Beach beer gardens, the new Port of Airlie Marina building was a good option according to our hosts: Walter’s Lounge. In September 2018, we ordered as entrée bruschetta. It was surprisingly good. We continued with the Wednesday’s special, braised beef cheek with spiced pine fruit, fresh grapes, red wine reduction and roasted nuts (AU30) included a glass of wine. The beef cheek was well prepared and presented, the meat had a good texture, tasted excellent with nice flavours. This chef knows how to cook well. We finished our dinner with a selection of cheeses from Australia: triple cream Brie, vintage cheddar and Danish blue (AU22) and a glass of good white wine. Excellent quality cheeses for a culinary happy conclusion of a very good dinner. During our Australian East Coast trip, we experienced poor pub food, many failed attempts in better cooking, but Walter’s Lounge received the most votes for good modern Australian cuisine. Highly recommended.

Excellent food and service
Fantastic venue. Start to finish excellent value for interesting and delicious takes on a whole host of foods. Steak and eggs starter is definitely worth a look. We had dairy free options throughout which were brilliantly executed. Very reasonably priced, both food and drinks, particularly considering the variety of food alongside knowledgable service from start to finish. Kudos on a great restaurant.
Went here for my anniversary last year. The food was absolutely spectacular, from the presentation through to the taste. We got the chef's tasting menu paired with wine. I am not a big wine drinker at all but the friendly staff came and explained each wine and the flavors and why that wine was selected to be paired with that dish. The whole experience was sensational and we can't wait to go back. Thank you for a wonderful night,
Absolutely awesome restaurant. The tasting menu was absolutely incredible from start to finish go for the six courses not five so you get the brie dish too. The chefs passion for creating incredible dishes shines through. The attention to detail of the wait staff is excellent and the little touches give you a great experience. One of the best places to eat in airlie beach. Thoroughly recommend to visit when you stay here!
My partner and I have eaten at Walter's Lounge around 5-6 times and every time we are never disappointed, the food is amazing! George makes a mean cocktail and the service is always great. Highly recommend the mushroom risotto and croquettes...next level! One of the best restaurants in Airlie Beach
Loved the food, although was not too keen on the calamari interpretation. The staff where extremely friendly and took the time to explain the various dishes. After reserving online and leaving an international number, they called (international) to confirm the booking. Loved the tartar.
