The lady I spoke to at Redfern Als was lovely and very helpful but I can't say the same for the Wagga Wagga Als I don't understand how we get these people to represent our mob and really they do nothing
like
Work for you, and let you know what's going on
Able to really help,,
You would assume that the ALS, of all places, would offer an inclusive workplace for everyone - volunteers and paid staff alike. I was initially reluctant to post this review, however, as a community legal centre that purports to help disadvantaged members of our community, it needs to be said. Your organisation cannot be externally inclusive if it is internally discriminatory. If you have a disability and are considering applying for work at the ALS, DO NOT APPLY. I have a mild cognitive disability, which I was reluctant to disclose until I had settled into my role. I have tried so hard to overcome my shortcomings within a field that is so socially rigid. Legal practices do not do enough to welcome people across the neurodiverse spectrum. I thought the ALS might be more inclusive. Before I had the opportunity to disclose, I was bullied relentlessly in the office. Volunteers and staff openly mocked me. Some of the solicitors were openly hostile towards me. None of these people were aware of my disability, so they somehow thought this was okay. Office cliques are an absolute nightmare for people on the neurodivergent spectrum. The ALS Redfern office was a nightmare for me. Sheri, rather than try to assist me as a HR manager, you validated this behaviour. You even went so far as to contribute to the name calling. Shame on you.
