Checked this out with a friend. I know a few people that take advantage of the services the food barn provides. They have some free/cheap food downstairs and do food hampers at a greatly reduced prices upstairs. For anyone that needs a hand this place provides an invaluable service. A message for the council- you need to do all you can to assist the food barn to keep providing services especially after the way you have managed your money over the last decade across the shire.
Good variety at varying times
These people are providing an amazing service to people who would go hungry under normal circumstances. Unfortunately there are some who are taking the kids, the Vietnamese gentleman who had the take away shop, wheeling cart fills of chips, hash browns etc and selling them in his store. I know foidbarn have to get rid of the food, but please to people who will eat and share with thier families, but to slim bags who reap profits from this. Great job food barn, keep up the good work. We love you all for your efforts.
Staff are warm and friendly
Great service and friendly, welcoming staff/ volunteers. Cash or Centrepay only.. The cash line much shorter! 5 member fee and 30 food hampers (handling fee) for at least double that in retail value food received. Pretty good range of items -staples and luxuries. And bonus pet food if you have a dog or cat. Got some watermelons, potatoes and bread for free too which was fantastic! The range of items available changes daily. Thank you Food Barn for being a great outlet and resource for the community /people in need. It was much appreciated!
