Not an ‘airport’. It’s a landing strip for light aircraft. And a sports parachute centre. Intriguing place to visit, merely as a spectator. Bring a picnic lunch, sprawl on the grass verge, marvel as the polychrome canopies burst open far above in the cerulean and come spiralling or swaying down. Some of the deft and snazzy landings had us cheering. The most stylish drop was arranged by a suitor who pegged out a vast canvas on the landing zone with ‘Marry me, Kayla’ painted on it, while Kayla was 14,000 feet overhead. Or maybe it was Kerry. Or Kelly. Anyway, we hope she landed safely, and said ‘Yes’.
