This service is a sham. I waited on hold for over 1.5 hours and when I finally got through the incompetent advisor terminated the call as I was explaining the situation. Obviously this organisation employs the low scoring drop kicks who can’t get a proper law job and the appalling culture is systemically filtrated to the core by bad management.

Judging only by the reviews, i am going to jail. But from personal experience, so far it is just all talk and false hope.

Your blase response to a complaint regarding the lawyers dishonestly obtaining a grant of aid by deception then failing to provide client-focused services against a government department raises questions about VLAs purpose, how you operate and for who's benefit. Not only did your ill-bred arrogant private lawyers COMMIT A CRIMINAL OFFENCE, they also denied the court knowledge of the degrading unlawful prejudice actions towards the victims of family violence. Seriously, if you're gonna favor whatever BS story the lawyers spin over evidence such as emails and call recording, why even bother having a complaints department? And let's pretend for a sec the lawyers did have an application form signed and completed by me, you stated, 'At times, documents are "misplaced"'. i.e. practice standards are not met. So why bother having them either? You're not going to do anything about a client providing incorrect financial details? Or that the lawyers cretified having documents which substantiated the incorrect figures? Why not???????????? In response to the comment below, the 2 complaints i made to the complaints department weren't dealt with fairly or taken seriously and there was no attempt made to resolve them. The responses to my complaints weren't based on or supported by the facts and evidence. If you're sorry to hear about this, fix it. This is an honest valid review of a truly shocking ordeal and worth posting. The way i see it, this should benefit others by encouraging VLA to meet set standards and provide good quality service.

I personally had a lovely experience with them. The ladies there served me even without an appointment and the staff on the phone for my free legal advice were super patient, supportive and knowledgeable. Definitely recommend.

I was told by the robot voice that answered the phone that there would be a 50 minute wait. I waited over an hour and a half without receiving any response and had to go and get back to work. Clearly I am not the only one that has had such a bad experience with victoria legal aid. You lot should be ashamed of yourselves.

Absolutely useless. Jane sighed whenever I asked a question and had difficulty answering. She said she was confused even when I quoted directly what my court order said. I speak to a lot of people in my daily life and I can tell you Jane is very unintelligent. The only thing she was comfortable with was slowly reading back basic information about what certain things are, all information already available on they internet. She spoke extremely slowly like I didn't know English even though I said I'm Australian born and speak English very well (I don't have an accent or anything). After trying to answer some of my questions she said "you're asking a lot of hypothetical questions so I'm going to terminate the call" it was very unprofessional and in my opinion uncalled for. Really not worth waiting on hold to speak to these clowns. Edit: I want to say I find it amusing other people have written similar feedback. Seriously "incompetent" is the most fitting word. If you've even went to Mcdonalds and the attendant struggles to process your order on the Point Of Sales machine and they don't apologise and have to get assistance because they can't figure it out then you might have an idea of how hopeless these people are. Just unable to do the one simple job they specialise in. The staggered sentences though. I've spoken with hundreds on people in the country, where did they find these operators? Taking breathes between single words and saying umm while giving the most indirect and vague responses. I could ask a cat for legal advice and be better off. The review that said they don't listen is right. When I called they just started talking for 15 minutes without determining what I was after. I had to talk over her and cut her off. I wasn't able to ask all my questions because she ended the call saying she's given enough time. Very poor service. Don't bother!

waited on hold for an hour, finally got through to someone only for the woman not to listen to me and made me feel like my concern is pointless and i’m doing the wrong thing. on the website, “we don’t give advise on...” didn’t list my issue however the advise given was i can’t give you any advise so go see a lawyer which will cost more
