A few months ago I attended a three hour lesson with Claire at Muddy Girl Studio in learning how to throw on the wheel; having never thrown on the wheel before and it being years since I'd played with clay. At the end of the three hours, after having so much fun potter-ing, I decided to sign up for the six week course - it's now three, six week courses later and I have loved every minute. Claire was (and continues to be) an exceptionally patient and all round brilliant teacher - she is clear in her instructions and provides a friendly, welcoming and relaxed environment. If you're after an atmosphere to learn the art of pottery in that is both equal parts informative and fun then Muddy Girl Studio is the place for you.

Claire is a kind, patient and wonderful teacher with over 20 years experience. We had never attempted a wheel class before so were a little nervous, but Claire is an excellent teacher who gives clear instructions and is very patient. She was amazing in her ability to allow us to be creative while still offering encouragement, tips and support to ensure we had a good experience. She has an amazing underatanding not only of pottery but also the pitfalls of beginners and how to get them back on track. We had an incredible time in her beautiful studio. This class is perfect for beginners looking to try out the craft. We loved that casual and 6 week classes are available. We had so much fun and look forward to booking our next class!!
I highly recommend Claire Johnson and Muddy Girl Studio. Claire has a wealth of knowledge and expertise in ceramics. She is patient and kind to her students. And her gorgeous studio, set at the foot of The Basin, Mt Dandenong, is idyllic for getting creative juices flowing.
