What a fabulous clinic. Andre is a great teacher and Issy a great support person in the water! I finished the clinic feeling confident about being able to understand a surf report and assess the conditions before entering the water. I loved the new skills I learned in the water and now feel confident to not only get under sets of waves but also to swim back to the beach through the waves which has always worried me in the past. Thank you so much. I plan to practice and come back for the next level clinic next summer!

I joined the weekend Wild Swimming adventure at the Burning Palms. It was a stunning location! Andre and Jules were excellent instructors and I came away with more confidence in Ocean swimming and a greater understanding of the sea. A challenging weekend which I highly recommend!
Andres introduction into Ocean Swimming clinic was excellent. Being a regular ocean swimmer, for the past 9 months, I felt the need to better understand how to read the ocean, and have a greater depth of knowledge of wave action, how conditions are created and how to negotiate different conditions. All of this information and more was communicated and explained clearly. Additionally Andre reiforced the necessity of fitness and strong swimming skills, something I am working on. Looking forward to the next course and making use of the resources Andre provides on his website.
A fantastic morning learning how to navigate the surf as a swimmer. A great mix of theory on the beach and practical application out in the ocean. And a small enough group that you get the attention you need to improve your techniques. Andre and Jules were great. Highly recommend!
Fabulous very wet and very wild weekend - learned heaps and experienced a hectic ocean with a great group of fellow swimmers and excellent swim and body surfing coaching from Jules, Andre and Emma. Great to be able to go to the edge with the support of these fabulous swim coaches. Beautiful environment to experience the ocean. Cant wait for next year!!! Fun, fun, fun!!!
Great way to improve our knowledge of the ocean and learn new skills for tackling an ocean swim. Took my teenage sons along and they thought it was great too. Thanks
I participated in Jan 30, 2021, clinic and I wish I had done this years ago! The first part of the course includes a crucial discussion on certain aspects of ocean swimming, so arrive on time if you want to get the best outcome. In this part, Andre elaborately explained the various aspects of ocean swimming - from reading surf report to negotiating waves, keeping a strong emphasis on safety. The next part was the practical bit, in the ocean, where Andre and Kristy taught different swimming techniques and showed how ocean swimming was different from regular pool swimming. We were very lucky to have great conditions. It was my first proper ocean swim after years of mucking around in waves. Perhaps this course could even be made mandatory for migrants and tourists who might have little or no experience in ocean swimming. It could save a few lives while promoting our beaches as well. Highly recommended!
This was an incredibly useful course. It was well organised with a good combination of theory and practical experience. The 6am start meant that the beach wasn't too packed and parking was super easy. After leaving the course I feel more confident in swimming in the ocean without my surfboard and will definitely be looking at booking into some of the more advanced clinics after a little bit more experience.
