I’ve read the reviews and I was ready to deal with poor customer service and rude people. We have quite some experience when it comes to Consulates around the world and visa processes. Now I can’t say that this specific process was easy nor quick: it actually took much longer than expected and it’s been frustrating at times. BUT: I could always get in touch with the visa office via phone (i.e. they always answered my calls) and when we finally came all the way from Brisbane for the face to face (the moment of truth) we met very welcoming and nice people, we were actually welcomed with a smile, and we had the opportunity to meet the Consular General himself who spent time with us with the sole purpose of welcoming to Chile! Hence the 5 stars.

In this occasion, I went for a short transaction in morning hours. The lady that attended me was very friendly and knowledgeable. Due to Covid19 you must book an appointment by phone or email. It's a Covid19 safe space so must follow current NSW regulations. Great service

I had the necessity to phone the Embassy regarding a Special Power of Attorney, after the passing of my mother-in-law in Santiago I was extremely fortunate to receive Monica on the end of the phone. Monica was knowledgable, professional and most importantly, nothing appeared to be too much trouble. She advised me what to do, which I did, and we are now waiting for an appointment to finalise the execution of the Power of Attorney. The service so far has been exceptional. Congratulations Chilean Embassy!!

Monica was great! She was really nice to us and did her best to make my daughter comfortable. Yes, things take time, but that's the Chilean way and they have now added EFTPOS which makes things much easier.

Pathetic customer service is the hallmark of the Chilean Consulate in Sydney. They should actually trademark that because I have never been so disgusted with this type of service in my life. Late last year, I went to the Consulate with my brother to register our father's death and Monica explained to us that it would take approximately 3-4 months for his death to be registered by the Chilean Registry. I sent two e-mails to the Consulate's direct e-mail address , but they did not bother to reply to me on both instances. I also made two phone calls and spoke to Violeta on both occasions, I explained to her that I came to the Consulate last year and simply wanted to know whether my father's death had been registered in Chile or not. A simple enquiry! Violeta took my contact details and told me that the Consulate would ring me back later in the day. Again, they did not bother to contact me by phone. You would expect that this would be common courtesy in an organisation such as this. I later proceeded to phone the Chilean Registry in Chile and ask them the same enquiry. The matter was quickly resolved within a few minutes along with an e-mail confirmation and a copy of the Chilean Death Certificate.
