Amazing and fast recovery! I had Bi-lateral inguinal hernia surjery. In my second week post-op I was performing incline pushups and going for light jogs. After 14 days i was doing full flat pushups and air squats and other body weight exercises. The recovery time was so fast. Now im back in the gym 4-5 days a week performing all exercises I was before including weighted squats and deadlifts confidently. I sail on the weekends and have a very active lifestyle and am honestly so happy I got the surgery done with Dr Tran because I don't need to worry about it anymore and he has done an outstanding repair. Would recommend Dr Tran to anyone considering hernia surgery. Thankyou!!

I am so happy that I found Dr Hahn Tran after a tough year of recurring ventral (incisional) hernias, including an unfortunate post op infection. From my first consultation with Dr Tran, I trusted him, believing that he would do what he promised and I was not disappointed. He operated on me within a week of our initial meeting, he left almost non-existent scarring through a single small incision. My post op care was fantastic and I had minimal pain when I left hospital, not requiring any pain killers. St Luke's Private Hospital is superb and the staff are wonderful. However, most important to me was that I would be back racing on my track bike competitively within 2 months of my surgery. I can now confirm that I raced last Saturday and even won two races, to my complete surprise. I would highly recommend Dr Hahn Tran as he is a man of his word and exceptional hernia specialist surgeon.
I had a HUGE problem for over 20 years. A bilateral inguinal hernia. I could hardly walk and was painful. I can only say i am blessed to have met Dr. Tran. A Brilliant doctor and human. What you have read from all the reviews is totally correct. He sat down with me for an hour an explained everything and urged me to ask him questions. He gave me an exact quote of what this operation would cost. He told me that i will walk out the hospital with very little if no pain. And that's what exactly happened. From day 1 i had no pain and i could walk easy. 2 days later i had even forgotten i had a hernia repair. Its been 4 weeks now and i feel 20 years old. I cannot thank enough Dr Tran. I can only wish all doctors were like him - Thank you for giving me back my quality of life!
Dr Tran Review I had seen a couple of specialists prior, for a hernia in my groin, but it was only Dr Tran who spotted that I had a second hernia in my abdomen in addition to the one in my groin. Dr Tran spent significant time explaining different approaches to the surgery, and why his method is superior. He addressed recovery time, chronic pain and other complications. As an engineer, I found that his approach made the most sense, and had added benefits in strength, being less liable to fail; not to mention that he used a single incision (keyhole surgery) rather than the more usual 3. Although I was in pain after the surgery, this improved after 3 days and subsided after 5 days, exactly as Dr Tran assured me it would. Talking to others who have had hernia surgery, many took weeks. Just over a week after surgery I resumed normal duties. Dr Tran provided follow up after the surgery that was “beyond the call” – he genuinely cares for his patients. Phone calls and any questions were answered promptly and thoroughly. There was an additional checkup at 6 weeks. By the way, Dr Tran was prepared to provide an exact quote for the surgery, where other specialists would only provide an estimate at best, and he honoured the quote even though the surgery took much longer than anticipated due to circumstances that could not have been predicted. It’s worth noting that my GP also used Dr Tran for his procedure. I would have no hesitation in using Dr Tran again, and recommending him to others.
Very happy to write this review. I was referred to Dr Tran by my GP as the "best hernia specialist". Always dubious about such claims I went to the initial appointment with open mind but healthy scepticism. Dr Tran was both extremely professional and totally competent in his examination and explanation of the required procedure for hernias on both sides. This included a comprehensive explanation of the operation, all those who would be involved as well as their total costs up-front. He very patiently explained the time it would take, the process, the recovery time-frame, etc; all of which occurred exactly as he said and to the time-frame he outlined. Moreover, and just as importantly to me as the medical procedure itself, Dr Tran was very sensitive and extremely courteous and respectful in his manner towards me during the entire process- no brusqueness or any hint of impatience. Since the operation was keyhole, I was in hospital (the excellent St. Luke's Private Hospital, Potts Point) for just one day. The anaesthetist (Dr. Jennifer Upton) that Dr Tran chose also rang me the day before as well as after the operation- never happened before! Both of them also spoke with me prior to the operation as well, putting me at ease. I cannot speak more highly of both, especially Dr Tran, and I conclude by affirming my GP's initial description that he is indeed the "BEST HERNIA SPECIALIST" Recommend without any hesitation and total confidence.
My story with Dr Tran: Recently I developed bilateral inguinal hernia. Quite worried, I contacted several specialists but I wasn’t ready to commit. What intrigued me with Dr Tran is that I left a message on the weekend and he personally called me back. I arranged an appointment with him and he spent approximately two hours explaining the procedure in great detail. I am a doubtful individual who is not easily convinced and asked a lot of questions. Dr Tran patiently answered to all of these. I arranged a second appointment with Dr Tran and he assured me that he will take good care of me. On the day of the surgery, Dr Tran saw me before and after the procedure. After the surgery, I felt some pain but was able to walk normally. At the end of the first week, I was able to walk 5 km. At the end of the second week I was able to walk 10km. At the end of week six, I was able to perform calisthenic exercises such as pullover on a high bar. During the recovery I haven’t taken any pain killers. Dr Tran genuinely cares about his patients. He is very approachable and always available on the email or phone call. His maxim is: “if for some reason you are worried, then I am worried too”. In other words, he is really willing to help and interested in treating people. His single incision technique reduces the recovery time and leaves a practically unnoticeable scar within the belly button. Dr Tran truly deserves the best hernia surgeon title and I would recommend him at any time. The service and the care he delivers is exceptional.
I was a little dubious about the name, but having met Dr Hang Tran I was confident that he would do good surgery. Ten days after surgery I can report that he achieved everything he said he would and I had little post surgery pain, little requirement for medication, no unforeseen complications and I have been able to walk my dog from about day two. Very pleased with the result and so much better than previous surgeries I have had (gall bladder removal, meniscus trimming, knee blood plasma injections).
