Went there so the kids could learn to bike ride. The track is great for learning and plenty of space not to get into another persons way

Beautiful mtb park.. Mount Stromlo hosted some of the best and oldest mountain bike trails in Australia. In May 2006 extensive remedial work and trail reconstruction was commenced by World Trail in partnership with Canberra Off-Road Cyclists mountain bike club and the ACT Government. Stromlo Forest Park now includes more than 35 kilometres (22 mi) of cross country single trail, a Four-Cross course, several observed trials areas and a downhill track. Mount Stromlo hosted the 2009 UCI Mountain Bike & Trials World Championships that attracted more than 30,000 visitors from up to 40 countries. The event involved more than 750 of the world's top riders who competed in the four mountain bike disciplines of Cross Country, Downhill, Four Cross and Observed Trials. In addition to the mountain biking facilities Mount Stromlo also boasts an event pavilion with office space and change rooms, a kids play area, BBQs, a road cycling criterium circuit, a groomed grass cross country running track and equestrian trails. information is from Wikipedia

Stromlo Forest Park is a fantastic community resource. It has something to offer bike riders of all persuasions, runners, walkers, and equestrians. The trails are well built and make use of natural features to add to the fun. The views from the top of the mountain provide a very nice outlook across Canberra. Loop number 2 is a favourite.

Love Stromlo Forest Park! Great location of a hike/walk/run/ride. You name it the facilities are there and they are great! Plenty of onsite parking. Bathroom facilities and water bubblers. The running track is well maintained and great for pace training, looking for more of a challenge, take the fire trails to the peak. Great views all the way.

Stromlo is an awesome mountain biking park, with a big variety of options. You can ride blue, green or black trails all day, either riding up or catching the shuttle bus up (70 for a day ticket, the shuttle runs Fri, Sat & Sun). There's a good skills development area for beginners, a pump track right next to the bar & takeaway food joint, a bike washing area, small shop for buying spare parts, even a criterion track for those who bring their road bike. There are also DH tracks and jumps areas. The parking area is massive and the trails are well signposted. On a typical weekend you'll see people from 4 to 84 out riding, and my experience is of a friendly and helpful culture. Due to the amount of granite in the area, the trails dry fast - it can pour with rain first thing in the morning and then be very ridable only by mid afternoon. Paved bike tracks lead from Stromlo to the city, or you can ride the Centennial Trail South past Weston Creek to Tuggeranong, or North via Black Mountain to Belconnen. Such a good spot - just go there!

Great place to go for mountain biking, track cycling and cross country running. There is a cafe to sit at and recover when you have finished you activities. Also a bbq area if you want to spend the day out. Watch out for snakes if you are walking the trails.

Stromlo is great for riding but they need to sort out their tech/comms - their website seems to be frequently down and they don't update their facebook page very often. We travelled to Stromlo from Sydney, hired a house, a mtb for a mate (as Stromlo) and then when we arrived were told the main downhill runs were closed for a comp. The other tracks were open but they're not great.
