I've been training at Ultimate Muay Thai/ Kickboxing in St Albans for over 15 years now and haven't regretted any of my time there. I tried a couple of other gyms in the St Albans/ Western suburbs areas but just didn't seem to "click" with them. At Ultimate in the early days I used to do the kickboxing classes as well as spar with the younger guys who were pro and amateur fighters. I was always well looked after during the sparring by the head trainer John Scida ... never a problem. These days as I enter my older years and even though I have to travel a fair distance to St Albans, I just train in the classes for fitness and mobility. The mobility guidance from the Ultimate Muay Thai team I find especially helpful for my general health and well being as I get older. The cardio from the classes is just enough for me and sometimes if I really do need a "breather" during the class I can just sit out for a bit. There's no "gung ho" mentality or ego's with the trainers to push you hard to exhaustion...unless you want to of course. Good cardio for health and well being is built by fairly regular class participation in the right amounts as John always says. One of the trainers there is also a qualified dietician who can assist with a bit of advice... very handy if you need a bit of guidance for losing a bit of weight with the training. I recently shed 3 kg with a bit of tweaking of my diet following his simple tips. If you're a pro fighter, amateur fighter or want to become a fighter, take a look at their website. Over the years Ultimate has trained and nurtured the careers of many national and international Muay Thai and kickboxing champions. You'd be hard pressed to find a more qualified or dedicated team in all of Melbourne, let alone St Albans or the Western suburbs, to help you along.
